I quit using the 5200 as the hinges are pretty strong without. I use a 9oz bias kevlar for my hinges. As far as the thickened epoxy goes, yes, I use a dremel to clear out for the wipers. Lately i have been just running the torque tube all the way out and keep the splooey behind it. When I cut the control surfaces out you can see the torque tube in the roots but thats no big deal. all of my production models are done this way. If you want to connect the second spar to the torque tube then you can just do it outside the wiper area to avoid any work after cutting the surfaces. Hope that makes sense.

So was the epoxy bridging the gap between the top and bottom skin over the whole length of the TE or just at the flap cut point?

I am just amazed at the investment in the equipement that serious builders have. Me: I have an exacto knife and a sanding block. Oh and a dremel tool that usually does more damage creating even more work.

Well keep in mind that most folks end up doing more in their shops than just building model airplanes. It'd be hard to justify getting a Unisaw for just ripping custom spars

My tiny little build area looks like it was vandalized with prejudice. Luckily for us small tinkerers, we have people like Spencer, Manor, Marty Hill etc, to build us such great planes at a fair price.
