Any suggestions for my new Pico Jet Combat?
What batteries should I get? I'm running the s400 w/20a ESC from my Razor (RIP). Actually I'm using all the same equipment. Any mods I should do while building it?
Where can I get good battery packs? Thanks for any and all advice. |

A stock speed 400 won't fly a Pico Jet Combat, at least not very well. You need at least the minimum power system suggested by Multiplex - the Permax 480 and 8x800AR cells.
Seach here on PJC and Pico Jet and you'll get lots of info. ..a |

I heard here on the ezone where a couple of other guys used 400's in there PJC. But I would go with a 480. I have a Permax 480 in mine and it flies good with that. I would get a 8x800ar battery pack for it. Thats my favorite for it. You can also consider an 8x1400AE also that works good in it also.

Hey Windy:
To give you a frame of reference, if you recall my standard Pico Jet (Top Juice) from the good old days when we used to fly together, that was powered by a Permax 480 that I added as an upgrade from the standard 6 volt s400. Since the combat is a bit heavier than the standard PJ, you will definitely want to get a 480 for yours. Neil |

With an airframe diference of only 10g, shouldn't the 6v 400 power it just fine? I know that the P-480 would be a better choice, however (more efficient). Ben C |

I just finished my PJC and fly it with a stock Graupner 7.2 v speed 400 and 8 cell 600 batt. Had to add weight in nose and changed to a master airscrew 6x4 prop. Flys very well 3 to 4 min at high speed. Am going to get some 800s when I find them locally to extend the flight time.
Remember to set the elevons for max travel on the control horns and set some up trim for your first flight and not watch it go into the ground as mine did. That's one tough plane! Pete |
