Futaba R606FS 2.4GHz FASST Receiver is Discontinued, Replaced with R607FS

From the Futaba FAQ section on their website:

http://www.2.4gigahertz.com/faq/faq-...4ghz-q925.html

"I just purchased a 2.4GHz FASST 6EX Transmitter a few months ago. I am very concerned to discover the news that the Futaba R606FS has been discontinued.

The R606FS was discontinued and is being replaced with the R607FS. As the R606FS was not compatible with the TM-7 and TM-8 modules, it was felt that it was a better move to go with the R607FS which is compatible with all Futaba 2.4GHz modules and transmitters. When used with the 2.4GHz FASST 6EX transmitter the R606FS receiver has proven to be a very reliable system and should give you years of dependable service."

606FS ($89) was replaced by the 607FS ($99), which has now been replaced by the 617FS ($104)...all in a matter of months. Thanks Futaba for making this hobby more affordable.

Why don't you follow Spektrum's lead and offer downline products as well. Not every plane that we fly needs a 7 channel receiver that costs over 100 bones. When buying a new airplane, I find myself deciding which current airplane I want to cannibalize the Rx out of because the new Rx's are too expensive. I guess I will be looking for 606FS's on sale.

I am also disappointed with the prices on Futaba RX's. Hope they can come up with an economical 6-channel RX with end pins in the near future that works with all their TX's and modules.

Right now I keep my eyes open for bargains, new or used.

Where did you find out the price on the new 617FS?

Yeah, I now know it is old news...but I don't get over to the radio forum very often. Still burns me up. I bought a 606fs for $75 at helihobby.com today, which means that Futaba will probably release a new 4 channel receiver for $30 tomorrow.

The price of the 617fs was according to tower hobbies. I found the reference on this thread...617 Fasst Rx
