RAM3 Sneak Peak
Guys, just posted a pic and some initial specs of the new RAM3 at the Soaring Circuits website. I'm currently putting some final touches on the software and building some more prototypes. Then I'll be testing the heck outa them.
At about half the size of the RAM2, it should fit nicely into our DLG's. My problem now is that the darn thing keeps getting smaller and my eyes keep getting older. I built the RAM2's by hand but I'm going to have to find a board house to stuff the production units. Thanks, Randy |

The first batch of RAM3's are shipping today. I've had a long list of people waiting for units ever since the RAM2 went out of production. I just took a major chunk out of that list and I should be caught up after the next run.
So, if you'd like to get a RAM3 the best thing to do is to drop me an email and I'll add you to the list. The first to respond will ship in about 3-4 weeks. For the production units I went to a thinner pc board and they're averaging right around 2-1/4 grams. I also just got some smaller LiPo cells in to test. Right now I'm leaning towards the 30mAh cell which will power the RAM3 for about 5-6 hours and weighs a couple grams. I'm hoping to have a totally self contained RAM3/battery package in the 5 gram range. Batteries will come once I get the RAM3 orders under control. I'll also be coming out with an inexpensive little charger to go with the LiPo cells since it's hard to find a charger in the 20-30mA range. Thanks, Randy |

An update on the LiPo battery. The little 30mAh cell came in at 1.5 grams with the lead and connector installed. So, a RAM3 with its own battery will weigh approximately 3.75 grams. Add a foam wrap and rubber band and it tops out at about 4.25 grams for a complete package that can be stuffed anywhere in the glider and record for over 5 hours.
A couple notable people from this forum are testing RAM3's and hopefully we'll see some comments from them soon. Thanks, Randy |

spent some time with the RAM3
Well the weather finally cooperated (kinda) and I got out to do some chucking with the new RAM3. This is an upgrade for me from the model 2. When I got the old one I was impressed with the small size and the new one make the old one look like a brick. Finding room for the new version is not an issue and it is so light that even if it is not on the CG you won't notice it. I hope Randy has a do not disturb sign on his workshop, it looks like he will be busy. I have attached a plot from yesterdays launch practice.
