Question about using LiPO for Rx power
I'm setting up a large pusher jet and the 65amp ESC dosn't have a BEC. I have been using 3amp, 5vdc out, UBECs for the last couple of my planes and would normally just disconnect the ESCs BEC and tap into the main battery leads to power up the UBEC. Is there a problem with using a seperate 450mah, 3cell, 10c Lipo to power up the UBEC? The UBEC would be powering up 3 HS-81 servos along with the Rx. Thanks for any help.

Not at all.
I use a 450mah 2S to power my one of my UBECs for one of my pylon planes and as long as the UBEC can handle that voltage it's not a problem. |

I'm doing the same thing right now. I've got a 29% giles 202 on a 10s system. I'm using a 6 volt UBEC with a 2S 2200 mah Lipo pack. I'm powering 4 high torque servos and 1 digital high torque servo from this with good results. I remove the pack from the plane to charge. I can get several flight sessions per charge.

Thanks FB99 & Davecee,
It didn't seem like there would be a problem I just figured I'd throw it out there and see what folks have/are doing. The UBEC is rated at 5-24vdc. I'm going to give it a shot. Rick |
