The ARF-kit includes a speed 280 brushed motor and ESC.
I want to convert this plane to a brushless setup.

Please help me, choosing a brushless setup

Please state clearly:

- ESC
- Lipo / Nimh
- Prop

Thanks in advance !

A Happy Dutch flyer

More info?

We could help more if you tell us what your goal with this plane is. It would also help if we knew how much it weighed.

Do you want "scale like" flight, basic aerobatics, unlimited vertical ?

How much can you afford to spend?

What is the biggest prop you can use?

Piper j3

Hi Brian,

thx for your reply.

This plane has a 41" wingspan, weighs 14oz (395gr), it's a Piper without ailerons. I just want to fly this as a nice relaxed parkflyer, a little overpower is ok with me.

Since i'm a beginning flyer i do not intend to fly aerobatics or 3D.

Is this enough information for you to help me out

thx in advance.

Grtz,

Menno

That helps.

Motor: TowerPro Brushless Outrunner 2409-12T

ESC: TowerPro 9g w12A Brushless Speed Controller

Props: GWS 8x4
Buy several, they break easily.

LiPo: Any brand, 3S 1000 Mah capacity with 15C or better discharge capability. Make sure it has a balancing connector. Get a LiPo charger and balancer that are compatible with the battery. If the store can't help you with this part, then you need to find a better store.

This motor, ESC, battery combination will give you more then enough power. Your plane should fly comfortably at half throttle. I would expect 10 - 15 minute half-throttle flights.
