The 2215-18 would be a better fit on the Extra NX as the Full Fuse version likes about 250 watts. The NX does very well on 200 watts although I like it best with about 250 watts also.

JFV, by looking at the 3dxhobbies website there listed as the same weight & the extra manual mentions the 2215-18 which is why I thought it would work. Would it be that underpowered compare to the my edge 540 profile is like which I currently like? Would the BP A2810-11 Brushless Outrunner that in the combo be a better balance ? Also I currently have a few TP 1320 & 2 new 1350 so I would need bigger packs to fly on a different motor. Any comment on the flying differences between the Edge 540 PF, Extra 300nx & the Extra 260 FF ?

Here is a short flight report on a gusty weekend (10-20mph): First flight flew hand off with very little trimming. Using a 2100 PL battery with Suppo 2217-09 using a GWS 11X7DD, had great vertical punch-out, and still has lighter wing-loading then other fuse-fuse 40 3D planes I have flown. Very precise tracking and sustained KE flight was very easy. Axial rolls and point rolls very precise. No detectable rudder coupling. Unfortunately, I lost power very soon into to each flight due to a faulty ESC, so it was difficult to do much wringing out. I hope to have a replacement ESC by next week and will be able to finish the heavy 3D testing.

I added a bottom fuse hatch cover to reduce drag and to give it a bit cleaner look.

I really like this plane so far.

I really like the way your Extra came out! Looks really sharp...and the landing gear is SWEET!

While the 2215-18 is a good motor for sport flying, the Full Fuse requires more HP that the profiles for top 3D performance. For 3D, the
BP A2810-11 motor would be much better as it has the thrust necessary for good pullout. I pretty much fly 2100 - 2200 packs in all my full fuse planes. Smaller packs on the profiles.

With regard to flying differences, the Extra 260 FF and the Edge 540 FF have a different feel in the air. The Edge is well, just a bit "edgier" than the Extra. Both are top performers, it's just a matter of preference. If you want to fly both IMAC style and 3D, the Extra would be my choice. For hardcore 3D, the YAK or the Edge.

The Extra 300NX feels lighter on the wing and is very smooth in the air. It's actually one of my favorites. Still working on the trim to get the flat spin really flat though.

Nice job. I would suggest adding some holes in the hatch for added cooling. It can get pretty hot inside the fuse when your pushing the flight envelope.

JFV, Thanks for the suggestion - I did cut a fuse hold behind the hatch for servo access and cooling, but some additional holes in the hatch seems like a good idea as well.

Big, Thanks. The LG is the stock wire, but I slipped a piece of lightweight polypropylene wire wrap (this is a common item at electronic stores) to spruce-up the looks.

Mach3, For a motor you also may consider a MicroDan 2510-3D (www.gobrushless.com), which is lightweight, but puts out 37oz of thrust and draws only 17amps on a 3S lipo. I use this on my AF Edge with great results and Dan's customer service is top notch (lifetime warranty on the 2510).

Thanks for the info guys, I still couldn't really decide which ones to get so I just order all three. I have a Extra Full fuse, a Extra 260 NX, a Edge 540 NX & a BP A2810-1 outrunner on there way to me. One question still remains as I'm looking at getting a Scorpion SII-30mm too but can't decide which one, should I get the 3080-1080 or the 3080-1220 or do I go crazy & get a 3014- like king Woody? This motor would most likely start in the Extra FF then go into a Mobius or Bipe when there re-released. Also is therer anything special that I need to know about building the the NX planes ?

I tried the 3014 in the Full Fuse Extra but it was just too heavy...it still flew but was hard to trim and took everything I had to keep it in knife edge. Hovers were still good and power was off the hook I have the 3014 in "The Bipe" and it ROCKS!! 3008 is a good fit for the FF planes IMO. My favorite is the Turnigy 2217...lots of power on a small light motor.

I am really enjoying flying my modified AF Extra 260. I recently added SFG and this helped reduce harrier wing rock and also make it KE with ease (the over-size rudder helps as well) multiple KE loops are amazing. I also really like how well this plane tracks and stops and starts in maneuvers - on my KE snap rolls it stops in KE attitude more precisely than any other plane I have owned. With this rudder mod you definitely need metal gears on rudder I stripped it several time until I changed it out with a BMS 373MG.

Maverickk,
What kind of paint did you use? I'm new to the foamie thing and the decals aren't staying on for me.

Thanks,
Jim

I just went to a local graphics shop and got some decal material in the colors I like. It stuck no problem. The decals that come with the Airfoilz never stuck to the foam for me either.
