Build Log
Jet Legend F15

Just got one of these. Very pleased with the quality but it would be nice to get some sort of instructions with it just so you know what all the pices of wood supplied are for. You do get two very detailed drawings with it. I am thinking about starting a build thread for this aircraft ( if anyone is interested )?

Did you get the new 780$ verion?
I just aquired about the old 530$ version, and they said it was discontinued.

I think im getting the X-treme jets F-15 which has the landing gear set included for 795$ http://www.x-tremejets.com/twe/produ...products_id=63

I have the new version ARF as got offered it at nearly the same price as the Kit.
I have fitted the retracs and started on the wing servo mounts. I have drilled the covers and cut slots for the arms but can not decide on how to mount the servos. I have started to take photo's and will start to post soon just waiting for some parts to arrive to finish the retract install. I like the look of the elevator mounts of the the new version better than any other F15. I would say better stick with this rather than get an X treem version.

I have ordered the X-treme jets F-15 kit with elevons only.

You are right, that the jetlegend elevator mechanism looks sweet, but im not concerned abot the way it is done on the x-treme jets version. It is a proven setup, that nobody was had any trouble with earlier.

I have decided to use Hitec servos on all important control systems
HS 5245MG for alerons
HS 5645MG for elevators
HS 5125MG for rudders
I am going to use Tower pro MG955 for steering and flaps.

Retracts and doors to be controled by Jetronics sequencer and valves.
Brakes by a Jetronics valve so I can have some control and not just on or off.
All electrical systems via a powerbox evolution.

Retracts are all in place and have used the screws provided but not sure wether to replace them with nuts and bolts, any coments welcome.
I have now built all the fuel tanks and installed the centre tank.
The centre tank needs to be installed before you join the nose section to the main fusalage. My next job is to mount the servo's. For the wings I am going to epoxy plywood blocks to the covers and fix the servo's directly to them. The elevator servo's are going to need some ali brackets making to mount them. Rudder servo's need so more thought but will prob mount to covers as well. Will post some photo's when done.

I will try to post regularly but am also building a Tamjets EDF F16, Bobcat 50 and 80" + wingspan Praire Falcon 3D.

How about some pictures ? :-)

Im going to use HS 5945MG on my elevators, and also HS 5125MG for rudders.

Going to use the Projet door ECU, and 5 mini servos for the 6 gear doors. 5 servo actuated, and the last one connected to the nose gear.

Hope I get the tracking number on mine soon :-)

Servo's all mounted and installed. Elevator servo's took a bit of work, had to design and make some ali mounts. Work well. Not to happy with the supplied clevises for the elevators so will be using ali rose joints as these carry the most load. Was going to start glueing the hinges but after looking the holes are all over the place . You would think on a model like this that they would jig drilled. Can not decide what to do either plug the holes and start again or try to adjust them and let the glue take up any gaps. Will use Hysol for the hinges. Now waiting for parts before can start any other jobs, should get next week.so will post more then.

I was not happy with the wing servo mounts so decided to do them a different way. I am mounting them directly in the wing using Tamjets servo mount. I have reinforced the wing servo pockets first using carbon & kevlar cloth. The aileron servo mounts then glue straight in using Hysol. The flap servo mounts needed a wedge shaped packer which I made out of plywood then glued this to the wing and the mount then glued to the plywood. Will post some photo's soon.
Progress is slow at the moment due to a lack of parts, should have just after Christmas.
