How to build an IC power pod with throttle linkages for a 3m glider

I am a glider flyer and have reasonable building experience. I currently fly a 3m woodie glider (Paragon). Can someone point me to directions/"build thread" for building an IC power pod for this as well as how to set up the throttle linkages.

Requirements:

- should be large enough to take a .10 or .25 engine
- should be capable of being rubber banded on the wing (wing is three piece, with a solid center section which is rubber banded on the fuse)

I am particularly a newbie when it come to setting up throttle linkages to the servo, fuel tank placement etc. Basically making sure the puppy will work!
I have used IC engines before but these have been in RTFs and on a GP power pod/0.49 which has no throttle/external fuel tank.

For the purposes of this thread I am not looking at an electrics solution.
Thanks

Sig makes a 2 meter one for .049 engines.

This side view should give you an idea of what you need to do. I dont think you need to worry about the incidence to much since this can be adjusted via shims. Notice the large plate on the bottom for rubber band hold down. Should be wide enough to extend past both sides of the rubber band foot print. Be sure to cross the rubber on each side of the pod as well. For throttle I think you would need to mount a micro servo to the pod itself other wise your fiddling with connections each time you assemble the craft. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Mike - most likely I will be going down the DIY route you suggested, just have to wait to source the right engine...

Regarding materials I assume lite plywood sheet (fuel proofed) should do the trick. How does one mount the micro servo and fuel tanks onto wood of the power pod?...I have never found it easy to cut square spaces (for the servos/fuel tank) into plywood.

Tremendously and proudly a nitro newbie

Having learned on a glider with a Medalian .049 on a power pod, I wonder what the value of the throttle is. The plastic tank mount for the Medalian gave a motor run of about 4-5 minutes which would get 1000-1500 feet altitude on that heavy, clunky model.

I question the need for a throttle. A slow spinning prop creates more drag than a stopped one, so your performance is going to be better with the motor dead. If all you're going to do with the servo is kill the motor, you should be able to control run time with fuel load and not need the servo.

Have bought a 2 sheets of plywood:

3.2x300x300mm plywood (for the base)
6.4x300x300mm lite plywood (for a the arm and backwall)
K&B 20 Sportster engine (on order)

debating whether to use a 2oz tank or a 4oz tank?
