I put a massive 68MM fan in a simple Eliworm F-15.

It pulled 60-80 amps and it flew LIKE A BRICK !
Sounded like a Kirby Vacuum on Steroids and was kinda scary
but
I only had one good flight when I forgot WHAT SIZE lipos I'd been using
and put some nice small and light ones in it.

Snappy performance but SHORT Flight as BOTH 2s1p paks
BLEW UP like AIR mattresses !

OK I'll got see whats up in that forum.

Parts are cut and assembly has begun. I should be finished up this coming week and maiden next weekend.

Maidened the 75% this aftenoon and it was a blast. Since I used dollar three boards the vertical stab flutters during high speed flight. I'll put some CF rods to stiffen it a bit.

The HXT900 for the swing wing seems to hold up, but also feels like it is struggling sometimes. Anyways, like other comments rolls are slow when the wings are out.

My vertical stabs are 3mm depron. Maybe I'll add come CF strip in them to help them hold up. Haven't put them on yet, so I'll do it before installation.

You do need CF flat or rod in the vert stabs. A trick I stumbled on, split a 3mm CF flat down the middle with an exacto knife. Then I dremel a slot 2mm deep. Works like a charm and you use half the CF.

I just put a 1mm slit on the foam and slide a 3mmx1mm flat CF on it. Very similar to Pat's method of putting spars on his 18" profile jets. Quick and easy.

I'll just use my normal 1mmx3mm flat stick and cut a 2mm slot in the foam.

I think my tails are going to wind up solid black anyway, so you won't be able to see them.

I just have to say what a great plane this is! I can't wait to build one. just one question... I've read this thread all the way through and am gearing up to build one. while ordering servos from Grayson, I ran across the super mega jet motor combo. I ordered it (thinking that it was closer to a supersonic) but now im wondering if it is too big for the 100% version of this plane. if so, how big do you guys think id have to scale it?

With that motor you could go 125% on this plane.

thanks Pat, for the quick reply. you say I could, but do I have too? I usually like to keep em smaller. (I drive a car) that motor is pretty heavy so im wondering how that would affect balancing the cg. by the way, I just did the sr-71 you posted at 75% with DS foam. came out great. ill post video in that thread when I maiden it. thanks again for all the help.

No, you could stay at the normal size. But that motor is overkill. Still OK though.
