If you think you get used to operating the wings with the rudder channel then yes, I suppose it would work. It will probably be a handful without any exponential though... oh yeah.. and you will need an V-tail mixer as CaptainRandy points out.

Ah ha. Actually I have altered the DXF plan myself with the right aperature size to suit the Waypoints, which saved time cutting etc. as they were the correct size. Being an AutoCAD user it was easy and I have a large A0 plotter at my disposal to for printing, hence all my buddys getting plans to build theirs I'm glad you found the servo specs useful and have found a source in the US to purchase them. After the weekend I shall know more on how mine goes, but definetly that Waypoint W150MGR retract servo looks to be the one to have for sheer torque in a small package. It will be interesting now to hear of anyone using one in their model so we can find out if it really is as good as it looks on paper. The good think with the retract servo was the servo angle range is greater and so should help us to use a small servo arm and keep the torque. Having another look, this one is even more powerful with the same sizes : Waypoint W-150POWER 15.6g MG Hi Torque Servo W-150 Power - High Torque Weight : 16.4g/0.60oz Torque : 4.8V 4.1kg-cm / 54oz-in Speed : 4.8V/0.15sec/60? Size(mm) : 26x13x26 Size(inch) : 1.16x0.51x1.02 Motor type : High Efficiency Special Ferrite Gear type : Metal http://robotbirds.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=977 If I build another I shall use these I think. Ian,
both of those look like good options.. the 150MGR is nice because of the 120 degree rotation and would eliminate the need for 150% travel on the TX. I also found this one at Hobby Lobby which looks very similar... SR9320MG http://www.hobby-lobby.com/servos.htm |

David,
I only have a four channel TX also, and I am using an elevon mixer hooked to the RX. They work great for these elevon park fliers. GWS makes one for about 10 bucks. I just ordered a couple from united Hobbies for $5.90 2x #TR-V-tail/6321 Turnigy V-Tail Mixer. Ultra-small variations = $5.90 |
