Hey, did I start something hear??? I flying with a Plantraco 900 Mhz Tz and Mico9 4Ch servo Rx. I go with the 50-60% size out of necessity. It doesn't hurt that I have a small field down the street. I have a ToxicToast F14 with a twist, his Euro Fighter needs electronics, Jivaro's T-50 Golden Eagle needs electronics, and a sweet profile B-58 (with a twist) cut out.
Birdofplay, I received the "Pizza Box" and everything was in excellent shape. I'll make sure I send pics of the "Half Pint", once I get thru the current line up. I just need to find time to get everything done. In regards to the power, I'll go with a 1811 2000 Kv 10 gr or 1806N (forget Kv) 20 gr depending on final weight. 3S bat of course. I still need to do a little research on the thickness of the F14 and the height of the servo. I have seen some pretty small metal geared servo's thought. I'll post the info when I finish. It may be a couple of weeks to a month, before I actually start the build on the Half Pint. I'll be sure to post once I start. Ksqm |

KSQM:
I am going to cut HEMI01 a 1/2 sized F-14 do you want one too ? Big problem is I ONLY HAVE Black 3mm depron. :-( Or I could use 3mm RCFoam , which I still have some stock of. They quit offering it. If you dont recall it has a Hard finish on one side an is about as strong as 6mm depron because of that hard surface. Anyway let me know if your interested ? HEMI01: ??? If Black OK with you ??? I've been thinking of a micro project with the F-14 and AR6400 combo also. I wonder if the servos that come with the AR6300 flight pack can plug into the 6400. According to HH the linear servos produce 2.8oz of torque. Not sure if that would be enough. Power would not be an issue as you can go with a high speed DD brushless set up.

OH GEEZZZ !!!
I just cut ONE of the 1/2 sized F-14's and , well ... I HATE to say this about a Fighter Aircraft but ... It's SO CUTE !!! The photos just don't capture the "Cuteness" so I put a couple of things in the pic to show how small this this thing is ! The Millimeter scale is in there for you the EU guys :-) I had never bothered to cut foam with a 1/16" bit before. Very Interesting ! ! ! |

Hey DAVE !!! long time ...
Yeah, that is what I have been wondering about also. They LOOK Like they'd make SWELL Christmas Tree Ornaments :-)))) Dario, ARE YOU SERIOUS ??? :-) I just cut two and they are headed for Norway ! I can do you a couple too. BTW: I just finished your BD-5 sheets ! Everyone: This is a whole new product and I simply used a .5 scale factor applied to the Original F-14 cutting files. I used a 1/16" bit instead of a 1/8" bit so nothing had to be changed. It HAS NOT been put together by anyone yet. A Total experiment based on a "WHAT IF" somewhere in this thread. For these 1/2 sized F-14 parts made from 3mm Black depron with no wood: I'm going to ask $21 for just 1 including S&H in a Pizza Box (what else :-) or $34 for two in the same box. Discussion ??? |

Received my "normal" size, non-cute, F-14 in a box today--thanks Bob!! Box had one "bashed" corner, but thanks to Bob taping everything down all the parts are perfect.
I know this has been hashed/discussed a zillion times in this thread, but what is/are the most common swing wing servo to use? Metal gears with what, 30-40oz of torque? Any luck on the BD-5 cut parts going into 2 pizza boxes Bob? Thanks all! |
