Lots of ways to read the setup..
My favorite is www.eagletreesystems.com and their eLogger. Second would have to be a simple wattmeter - something like the AstroFlight 101, Bantam Two-Meter and others.. If you have a 480g airplane and you produce 480g of thrust, you'll have a nicely powered aircraft.. Usually for speedy type aircraft you want 150watts/lb or somewhere around in there.. It's so stupid fast I don't open it up. I only fly for about 4 minutes at a time in fear of fire because it obviously pulls more than 40A. When I just first got the motor, I flew 5 times before 3 of the magnets came unglued from the can and shoved to one side. I glued them back in place and now it works fine. Its a screamer. |

CG ?
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=404 What to do with numbers ? Well, it's a matter of "the chain is only as strong as the weakest link". IF the Lipo is a 30C type and the ESC is rated above the MAX amps pulled then motor heat is the thing to watch. If the Motor is loafing then you you can UP the prop size. If the ESC is getting too hot then you have to go smaller on Motor or Prop If the Lipos is a lesser type and getting too hot then down size the prop. You're just trying to maximize your thrust without ruining equipment. Surely, that motor will put out way more than 500g thrust The spec says 800g thrust but that doesnt quite sound right considering the 480 watt rating. ( What Tram said above ) You AUW is under 16 oz ( 413 g ) and that motor is good for more that 4X power to weight. ( based on watts ) Or 2X based on the spec'd thrust. So it'll either be ... All ahead Warp Factor 2 or All ahead Warp Factor 4 ... Engage ! ( lets go stupid fast per bustedblades above ) Now Pitch speed is another thing. The Prop Number is DiameterxPitch Pitch is the theoretical number of inches the prop will move forward Per Rev. So Mph or Kph is a rather messy formula. I have a spread sheet to do that . There was a discussion somewhere in RCG re recording the Sound of a Flyby and knowing the pitch they could calc the Speed. It was supposed to be better and cheaper than a Radar Gun. I base my flying on Fun Factor. Check your own SMILE-O-Meter for those readings! :-) |

guys, maiden ok... CG perfect after some adjustment. BUT the wings can't open in air! so when u open when launching, sometimes it will sweep back, but most of the time, it got stuck and only sweep when it like. haha... but i tried doing rolls with wing sweep, damn, its like a drill... and with wings open, its like flying a high wing plane, takes such a long time to make a roll. haha... nice...
oh, as expected this prop is not suitable. i lower to 6x3, but still hot, ESC is hotter than motor... maybe i try my frenz 5x5 tomorrow. but just now i tried using 4.75x4.75, didn't fly it, but there is barely thrust to push the plane... i think my wing problem with sweep.... but i was thinking if 65MG is not strong enough to open in flight? even if i cut throttle, its unable to open, but on land, it open and close nicely... or maybe the piano wire i used is too small? |
