Recommendations for big F86 power setup

I've just purchased one of these
http://www.ejf.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=470
with the retracts. I know its a foamy, but its a big foamy!
The reason I'm posting in here because I believe you guys might have some good ideas about 90mm fans.

For a reasonably priced setup, I'm looking at a Midifan, 800w typhoon for 90mm fans, 80amp ESC and two 3s 3200's in series.

This bird is going to arrive in about two weeks, but I'd like to order some power for it soon so I can play around with it before the building happens.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Not Here

I guess most of the replies would have to depend a little on the duct size and the fact the plane is not here yet. I am going to get one too so I am watching your thread with interest. I was thinking maybe getting the low priced United Hobbies Fans to try on mine since Bob Ruff has had success with the use of the UH fans.

I hadn't seen this until Stu mentioned it (in connection with glassing it all over for one of his fans ).

It looks like it could become the next cult EDF. What a super looking ship and a good size too Judging from the photo the intake looks big enough for a 110mm fan.

I'm going with a Hacker B50-15L in the Hayoe 90 mm fan on 5S 4600ma Extreme. Using a WeMoTec Midi fan with the same motor I would go 6S.

Hacker B50 must be an expensive motor, but I'll look into it.

Fan?

According to Robert at EJF.com the F-86 already comes with a Hayoe fan when you buy the kit. So I guess I am going with the Hayoe fan and maybe the same motor they use on the 90 size sport Jet.

Ralph,
Are you talking about using the 800w Typhoon? Its a bit on the pricey side for me. I think I might go with a Feigao from United Hobbies.

Bob, I found a B50-10L for $230.99 at aero-model.com but its about 3 times as much as i'd like to spend on the motor... I bet the thing would haul with it though...

The Great Planes motors at Tower are selling for real cheap right now, guess they're clearing their stock. I can't vouch for the quality on these, however.

You got it. Plus if you check the sales offers here on RCGroups, you can probably get another discount. I would think that those wattage specs from the website are overly optimistic.

Well, this is probably the closest one, and yeah, it is really cheap. I'm just not sure if it would have enough power.

I suggest you go with a bigger motor. I actually have that motor in an RC car and I don't think it has the weight to handle anything over 500 watts. I took it out quickly when it ran too hot and went with a Hacker C40.
