The guys at arducopter recommend this gps.

getting the apm2 board is probably easy to configure since its already there instead of diying the crius board. just my 2 cent

Yeah that's the one. The apm2 board is 199.00 I believe. the GPS I looked at linked on that page was 75 and the sonar sensor was another 45. Regardless the whole package is much less then a WKM. My only concern is getting it to fly as they talk of PID tuning and I don't even know what that stands for.

I'm fairly good with a soldering iron and can read so I may give it a try. First ill have to save some money and get some of the other stuff off my want list. That Habu 32 may have to go up for sale....

Pid tuning its not too bad. I do it on my multiwii boards theres a lot of videos floating around. I just sold my fm4008 motors.

If you are considering new motors look at epbuddy. Thats what I have on mine Very efficient.

Tuning PiDs can be a paint at first but once you watch a few videos and do it on a bird it's easy to catch on.
*UPDATE on X8* all electronics check out, except I didn't test my FPV gear to figure out why it cut out in the first place, and surprisingly NO bent shafts. Ordered a TBS discovery frame to replace the standard flame frame. Hopefully ill be able to Jerry rig my legs and gimbal onto it and it should get rid of seeing the motors if the camera, with it being larger I can better space out wiring and components, lastly I'm going to add a second camera one that sits on the frame in the design spot and then my GoPro on the gimbal. That way I can flip back and forth from regular CCD camera to my GoPro, will be able to then save it if my GoPro cuts live feed again or whatever happened.

That wing would be a great experimental FPV platform.

These guys make some really good indistructable wings. Nick and I have three we use for combat. I've tried to distroy mine but can't.
