I built and flew a hand launch designed by Herk Stokley from the plans from Andy McDonalds Flying Wing page. That was also the year that folks started flying DLGs.

CFrench,

I'm taking Herk's model and have blown it up to 100" and will have two fuselage pods, one for power and the other thermal.

I'll let you know how things progress.

" I do not remember where I got this picture from but I have had it fior a while. The plane is call a Torcman. Maybe someone know something about it or you can start searching. "

Sorry to correct you, but the plane is a "Taborca", made by LET models of the czech republic : http://www.letmodel.cz/technical-data/taborca.pdf

"Torcman" are a brand of brushless outrunner motors, made in Germany :

Genesis 2

I have built a Genesis 2 from scratch. I know one of the original designers and got cad drawing from him to build off of. I did it in 1/3 scale size, 5 meters. Glass fuse, Bagged wings. I can winch it, don't get as high as TD ships, but not bad. I also did aerotow at the JR aero tow last year. Not a bad flying plane. Just big, but breaks down pretty good .

The Windlord is probably the best flying wing design and easiest of the "wings" to build.
Large wing area provides exceptional flight performance and is perfect for e power.

I sell a partial kit, check it out, scroll the RES-Sport-Nostalgia page from the Sailplane catalog on the front page of my web site http://skybench.com

How about an EPP Eagle? It does have a v-tail and small electric motor, but people are definitely thermaling it. Longest flight reported is 1 hr.

Charles,

Would you mind writing a few comments about launching, whether hand launch or if you've tried using a hi-start and then general comments about it's fight characterisitics?

Thanks

What about the Klingberg series of wings? I picked one up at the Perry GA show but have yet to start the build on it. I'm wondering how the 100" foam core version of it thermals. If it's strictly a slope flier then I'll consider selling it to finance other projects. No slope sites in my area would make it kind of a waste of time for me. I do like the lines of it though.

Hi Jeff,

I have had a Klingberg 100 for many years. In fact it's one of Rol's original prototypes. It's been flown quite a bit by me and also by several of my friends. It thermals quite well. I particularly like the flap as an aid to landing. I found that the in-flight variable CG was an interesting feature but not very useful. I disabled it after a while. I also enlarged the tip fins and disabled the pivoting fin feature after a while.

If you want more details feel free to email me with questions.

I was just wondering... what does a wing do to signal lift? A conventional glider will raise its tail in the presence of lift, but what about a wing?
