Halloween Quads - just for fun

We dressed up a couple quads for Halloween. Look and fly scary.
Also a Quad acting as a corn harvester.
Enjoy.

We are using APC 11x7s. It seems we are extremely limited in our prop choices when it comes to pushers and tractors of the same size and pitch.

Last night I was flying in some wind and was surprised to see the effect the wing had moving over the props. The lift was quite nice, however panic set in at about 150 feet. Landing was uneventful however it took a good 5 minutes before I would walk over to it to shut it down (knees and legs too weak).

Just curious, have you tried their 12x6 or 12x8 thin electrics?

No, we thought they would not stand up the RPMs and payload. We could and probably should test them real world huh? I know that generally, the thrust is better on a longer lower pitched prop.

Looks like the rpm limit is same as glow props. Couldn't tell you about the loads, but the props are pretty cheap, very light and fairly stiff. Might extend your run times a few percent and payload a couple of ounces.

maxvtol - I ordered props from APC today, I figure 2 weeks or so we should have them. I found another use for the quad, leaf-blower!

Great footage! Do you have more?
It is clear that your quad hates the bike, a case of sibling rivalry. Next time cover the bike with a tarp, or put it outside. I have observed this behavior as well; however it manifests itself in try to attack me. Perhaps if I put my bike nearby to act as bait? I think you have just saved a life my friend!

Yeah, but the bike still won, just required a little duct tape on the seat.

Some of my older videos (not quite as entertaining) are at the bottom of the page on my website www.vertiplane.com.

Most of my newer stuff is on Youtube.

Ever tried shrouding the props? This could increase thrust and run time as well as reduce noise/vibration. Maybe a 3 or 4 blade APC cut down a bit...

Man I wish I knew you guys when I lived in Cleveland!
