I don't think $9.99 to ship a battery overseas is necessarily outrageous. That is actually about what it costs. If you are buying just one, it's not a bad way to go. If you are buying a bunch of stuff, then Hobby City is clearly the smart choice.

The RC product lists have received a long overdue update with tons of added products and updated prices. Here are just a few of the products now listed:

Yes, but currently it's difficult to update info to the website quickly and efficiently. If you have some time to help out please shoot me a pm or email. What I *really* need is a software guru to help out with the whiz-bang database stuff on the backend. A fellow RCGroup member offered up some help, but just before the project was to go live, there were personal/health reasons that arose preventing the completion.

Ultimately, it would be nice to have a system that is easy to update and that users can offer feedback, like star ratings on projects, and also update and add products; lightly moderated. But this takes programming skillz far beyond my own...

Hi everyone,
I just purchased a Blade CX2 Heli, still skiding it on the office desk, no lift off yet.
Looking at the li-po battery 800 mah, 7.4v it weighs 43 grams. I have a lot of duracell 2650 mah ni-mh batteries and the weight of 6 is 179 grams @ 7.2v

The li-po battery charges in about an hour, and replacment cost is 25-30 dollars US.

The AA duracells cost a little over 2 dollars ea, and 15minute chargers (4 batteries at a time) cost 29 dollars. Also they are fan cooled and cut off at full charge.
The duracell weight is 4.16 times more, but the capacity is 3.31 times greater.

The question I have is, knowing that the extra weight will tax the motors, will the duracell batteries give up enough current, and in the long run be more cost effective ?

no. You can find some pretty inexpensive and worthwhile LiPo's.

Without LiPo's these heli's were pretty much impossible. Adding over 100 g to one of these helis is pretty much out of the relm of practicality. You would not like the way it flys. If it flys at all with that weight, the stock motor life would be very short.

The CX2 in it's stock form will never take off with that much weight. Might get an inch or two off the ground due to the extra lift from ground effect.

Hi David,

Have you had any experience with the Falcon EV LifePo4 cells (Advanced Lithium)? They look very interesting. It would an interesting comparison to the A123 Cells. I was reading a little while ago somewhere, but cant for the life of me find it, a forum where (of all things) they were discussing modifying MagLite torches with Lifepo4 packs and LED light clusters. Was pretty interesting.

Also the lithium cobalt oxide cells, what is your experience with those? Are they charged with a usual Lifepo4 charger?
