Hi Guys

The RAAF Base Edinburgh is putting on a airshow next weekend the 27th and 28th of October. Seems like forever that they had the last one.

Man, I can remember going to the Edinburgh air shows in the late 70s as a kid, back when they still had the Mirage and Machi. Does anyone know the last time they hosted an air show?

Cheers, Len.

Hello

This brings back old memories of the good old days of Edinburgh airshows.

The planes were always great but who remembers when rhey would fly a chopper out over the airfield with a old car underneath, then it would be announced " would the owner if this please come forward because the it was parked in the wrong spot". Then another voice would come on and say, "it is the commanding officers car and to put it down now" . I am sure you all know what happened next. That's right they drop from what seems to 150feet, funny thing is that they don't bounce that well lol.

I had forgotten about the illegally parked car stunt until you mentioned it white whale . One of the only other things I can remember is when the Orion did a "bombing run". Thats is it flew over a target with its bomb bay doors open and someone detonated some explosives in the target.

I am not sure if I will be going but I just realised that if I do I will be seeing some of the exact same aircraft that I saw in the 70s, lol.

Cheers, Len.
