Maybe you need more cells with the 480s. I fly on 8x2400s (with the standard motors) and it's superb. The weights that Multiplex quote on the box etc. are way too low, BTW!

PS welcome to the Ezone!

I have flown a TJ with 8*2400RC's, 2xpermax480 with 4,75x4,75 props (TJ not mine). This one was heavier (1200gram) than quoted on the box - no need to worry, it flies fine. Just give it a nice firm toss straight ahead.

Yes, mine is 1190 g with the standard s400s and 8x2400. Pulls right out of my hand on launch - no problem at all.

I use Panasonic 2000NiMH cells. Same size and weight as Sanyo N-1250SCR. They work well for this application. See www.magtechinc.net for more info.

With stock motors and 7 RC2000: 1000g
My second kit was slightly lighter and would have come out at 966g using the smae configuration. How much is yours then, Freddy?

Almost 1200g. I have a friend who has not seen a Twin Jet, but is an "expert". (Has we not heard it before!!) He believes i need 9*1250 cells not sub c. I am just an ordinary guy with 30 year experience of i.c engines. What do i know?

I use the 480s in my TwinJet and a 8x2000SCR battery pack. It flies good the way i have it setup. I didn't weigh mine yet so I don't know how much it weighs.

Hi Freddy,

1200g is quite heavy - you must have used some real heavy components here. If you want to save weight you can always go for 8 Panasonic 2000 NiMH. Jürgen

Freddy - 1200g should not intimidate you at all. Granted not the lightest TJ around but its certainly flyable with your powersystem.

I testflew a TJ two weeks ago with the same stuff but with CAM4,75x4,75 props and it flew great - powerwise too. First flight lasted 9:30 minutes....

Happy flying!

Flew mine for the first time today. Permax 480s with 10 Cell CP 1700s.

Pulls nicely away from the hand launch. Not overly quick though but will do me for the time being.

Man, somebody really dug out a very old thread.

By the way, some people (even those guys publishing Q&EFI ) seem to suffer from short memories - my Twin-Jet went vertical three years ago - with NiCds - and still does so today.
