Hi everybody may i jump in, as I lost two dear cf2822 motors for still "mystery"" reasons. the first had one wire in one winding cut off, the other motor had his coils ugly greeny yelloww in color and got a lot sloppier when turning by hand. so i was thinking about rewinding them but I have never rewinded anything

These are good motors to rewind.
The stock wire is easy to get off and I think the performance is pretty good.
Just got back from flying a plane with my fc28-05 and a Graupner 5,5x4,3 and it was GREAT!

Read timochris's tutorials on DLRK and you'll get it.
Just make sure you have good wire to make it easier on you.
Motor rewinders will almost always give you enough wire to do the motor if you explain why you want it.
I take the motor with me too. 9 feet ought to be plenty.

The dLRK tutorial is here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=736580

It applies to a 12 pole 14 magnet motor.
Personally I wouldn't start there. Easier to start with an ABC wind.

GoBrushless.com has been where I started with a cheap GBv ($10). Read the tutorial to get the basic idea. Then read the link above.

Strongrcmotors.com is having a kit sale right now and has similar stuff to gobrushless. He may be out of some items. His site is a bit less newbie friendly but has some interesting stuff.

Here's a discussion on that motor.

Rewinding/building brushless motors, must read, otherwise understanding the answers given will cost you too much time:

It can't - it's dLRK.
If I wasn't clear I was suggesting the OP start their winding trials with an ABC wind on an appropriate motor before tackling the CF motor.

OK, Thanks for clearing that up.

Just got back from the field flying a little plane I cooked up with the FC28-05 and a Graupner 5,5x4,3.
Measured with a radar gun it pulled off consistent 64mph passes.

I think I read through the whole thread, but I'm not clear about the batteries you were using.

When you were testing these motors with 6" props, were you using 3S or 2S for both FC2805 and FC2822?

I use 3s. I tried using a high KV wind for 2s originaly and wasn't thrilled with it.

has anyone noticed that this motor has the clip on too tight. I originally took it off to wind and then could not get it back on. Then i noticed on the other motor, the clip had fallen off on its own. I guess you could move the shaft back a bit from the bell, but ive already lost both clips. Are there any easy fixes for this?

The clip was "tight" on all of mine.
Some had a funny clip too that I destroyed to take off.
Moving the shaft can give you some more room and autoparts stores should have an assortment of small e-clips.

Auto parts store? great.. never thought of that one.. so moving the shaft.. i loosened the set screw but it still did not move. Is there some kind of adhesive that is put in there as well?

There's no adhesive, just a press fit.
I have access to a drill press so that's what I use to press shafts in the bell.
Be carefull as a lot of people bend/break stuff trying to use a hammer.
If your using it a pusher the clip isn't even necessary.

Right, i have one in a pusher config and one in a tractor and both are missing the clips. The tractor runs just fine without it, except, every time i land it make the bell move forward and the bearing pops out which causes the motor to not spin. So i guess i need to find some replacement clips and figure out how to press the shaft to back it out a few mm.
