New Product
Parkflyers.com Mini P-51 D

Hello All-

Has anyone flown the new release Parkflyers.com P-51D MINI MUSTANG from Art-Tech. It is the smaller version of the HOBBY LOBBY RTF P-51D with landing gear etc.

The Mini Mustang does not have a brushless motor or landing gear, but comes with a small LiPo.

I just received mine, but have not had time to get her out of the box. The quality is similar to the HL RTF version. It should be a nice little Park Bird.

WOW - I had a successful Maiden yesterday, and this plane flies great. It is a little slower than I expected, but perfect for the park/schoolyard that I use as my airport.

The only changes to BOX STOCK I plan to do are:
1.) increase the aileron throws for more authority.
2.) Fit a higher capacity battery pack for more air time and reset the CG.

The motor has lots of power and performs well in this model (I would love to upgrade to brushless sometime - but the stock motor is quite good and I will keep her stock for some time).

For $120, this a great RTF set. I am waiting for a receiver ready or other ARF version of this model.... more than one P-51 in the hanger is always good. This will be my daily flyer until the weather puts her in the hanger for the winter.

Thumbs up on this model.

Flew this guy all SUNDAY and it is great. The stock power is great, I currentky have no plans to mod with brushless. 30 Flights and counting.....

( I have modded to fit a 910 maH 3S pack and it flies better than ever with longer flight times.... a little foam removal, created a battery hatch, reset the CG and back in the air)

The Hobby Lobby "larger" Art Tech Mustang is brushless, not this one.

Guys,

I'm interested in picking this up from parkflyer.com now that they offer the parts without the electronics but I wanted to see some close up shots of the foam quality. Can anyone provide some close ups?

TIA

kydawg1,

Perfect! Thanks for providing. Exactly what I wanted to see. From the pics, the foam quality looks better than the GWS foam. For the price, I think this kit looks to be a great kit.

Looks like I'll be buying the parts soon.

That is a great deal. Convert it to LiPo and have a blast. I will need to add a few spares to my hangar. Thanks for the info.

The only difference from the ParkFlyers version is that the HC version comes with a NiMh instead of LiPo and LiPo balancer charger. Maybe this will cause ParkFlyers to get their prices more in-line.

I bought the Parkflyers P-51 mini last week, I have been flying a parkzone Cub so there a bit of a difference...but the Mini Mustang is truely fun to fly... mine came with the 450 LIPO 11.1 V and only had 5 minutes of Flying time...I just bought a e-flite 700mah lipo...although have not tried it yet...hopefully I will have more flite time.

Besides the 5 minute air time I don't feel the alerons have enough throw..as it's difficult to barrel roll, so my next upgrade will be the aileron micro servo arm.

Does anyone know the CG for the Mini ???

Check the CG with the stock set up and then match it with your new battery. Then you can make slight battery shifts to fit your flying likes. This is how I added my 900 3C battery it flies great.

KY..have you changed the aileron throw yet...I tried to buy a longer aileron micro servo arm, but since the Mustang uses AS-100 servo's im not sure who there compatable with...Dubro has 5 different packs for all the different make of mini servo's...I sent an e-mail to parkflyers tech group....then I called the tech number....im still waiting for a call back.

Does the 900mah give any better performance besides longer fly time ??
