A-10 with stock EDF-55s and 300h and NiMh flyable?
I just got a GWS A-10 and it is in my second plane, I don't want it too fast so I don't want to go Brushless. Will it flywell with the stock motor (EDF-55 and the 300H) on a NiMh battery? I am not doing any thing fancy with it besides a few small carbon fiber braces (wing, fusealge, and nacelle holders). Will this fly good?

Hello ,
I fly it with a Lipo 3 S Polyquest1200 and it rocks  Full power only for the handlaunch the rest of the flied I throttled back . No proplems with the motors till now (and I used it for very long time)Rudi |

Hi Guys
I agree, go lipo, the nimh's will hold it back and make it too heavy, todays lipo's will discharge better and be lighter with more capacity. win win win. |

My old edf 50's would fly with 350mah nimh but the edf 55 300H are heavier so just like Rudi, I did the same lipo thing.

3s Lipo translates to 10 cells nickle. You'll be awfully heavy...

I had one with the EDF-55 fans and the 300H motors. They were surprisingly strong motors. I ran a single ESC and a 10-cell Intellect 1200 NiHM pack. A slightly-more-than-gentle hand toss and it was in the air. I got 4-5 minutes flying with this setup and never had a problem. It didn't fly well under 60% power but what jet does? It was very scale-like with this setup, especially on a calm day.
If I ever did another GWS A-10, it would definitely at least be with lithiums, if not also brushless motors. But don't be afraid of a NiHM pack. Mine flew fine. |

Mine flies fine on a stock setup....9.6v 1150mah NIMHs. She isn't super fast but flies just great.
