Mr. GWS4CEO.. Something to think about....

Mr.Lin, I don't know whether You have seen this thread.. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...threadid=75038 but it is something to think about! with a much smaller diameter, We could use the EDF 50's in a much more scale-type application! (and You can save money on plastic! ) and the thrust seems to have even gone UP slightly! Like I said, it is something to think about. Bob

Sorry about the misspelling Mr. Lin... Fingers are just too fat to type well! I have tried to edit the spelling, but can't seem to get the main subject header to change...

Excellent! Thanks your suggestion.

GWS is working on many other size of EDFs!

EDF40, EDF30 and EDF60~65.

WONDERFUL!!!

VERY GOOD News!, Mr. Lin!, THANK YOU! Have You given any thought to 3 and 4 blade counter-rotating props for twin motor Aircraft!? Your GWS 3 & 4 blade props are very, very nice! So far, No one makes them that large for twin application that I know of,.. You could be the FIRST! It would be wonderful to have them in both LEFT & RIGHT rotation! Bob

GWS EDF40 & EDF30 nearly to production. I am not trying to drive you crazy, but I did those crazy things.
http://www.gws.com.tw/english/produc...stem/edf40.htm

What the hell GWS is doing?

EDF40 tested very well with EDF50 motor. Why we need to make such a EDF40? Like military Jet fighter's turbine is different to EDF50 for commercial flight.

More GWS military jets will comming!

EDF30 is powered by a 10x25mm motor. Still need to tune up the motor to get more RPM and thrust.

Test datas TBA!

Don't blame GWS is doing too much, taken over EDF business potential from others! We just try to make more choice for RC EDF with more fun and pay less!

GWS says: ALL YOU CAN FLY! Instead of all you can EAT!

I remember some one in EZONE said: GWS EDF50 is only a ducted PROP! So now that's see EDF40 should be called?

How about this test datas?

(V) (A) (g) (W)
3.6 1.4 18 5.04
4.8 2.2 34 10.56
6.0 3.1 53 18.6
7.2 3.9 71 28.08
8.4 4.9 87 41.16
9.6 5.8 102 55.68

But I will not recomance to use over 6 cells. Since 6 cells 71g with trim of outer case should be able to get more thrust!?

EDF40 runs very well. Will start production right the way! But waitting for packaging! First lot will be shipped out from Taiwan at early March 2003 or even possible at late Feb.!

However, EDF30 still need some time to tune up motor RPM to get a better thrust.

First of all, it's good to see you back here Mr. Lin.

I have another suggestion for you test data. Many if not most of us are switching to Lithium Ion Polymer cells for lightweight applications like EDF-50's. It would be helpful to see performance with 2 lithium-ion polymer cells.

Recommendations for only six cells is encouraging to me because two li-po cells most closely approximates 6 NiCAD's.

Small GWS jets. Sounds very fun... almost as much fun as my Astro 010 powered Tigermoth

Welcome back Mr Lin. I am glad to see this kind of performance information on the new EDF. Hope all goes well getting into production and onto the dealer's shelves, so we can buy them!

Mr Lin;

It is good to have different sizes on EDF-XX but it is better to have better motors

Guess how much will be the price of EDF40?

Should be the same as you pay for EDF50! So now your can start to save money for it! Prepare to down load more plans from the internet resource.

The little JET age is comming!

Mr. Lin, welcome back! I would like to reaffirm what Melf said, we need small EDF's that can be powered off of li-poly cells! The EDF-50 draws too many amps for small li-polys, but perhaps these new versions will work better. With the EDF 40 weighing in at less than an ounce, these are looking very interesting indeed!

Check the key dealers who may be ordered and go by air should be quicker reach to USA.

Well, as you said that EDF-50 draws too many amps for small li-polys! Shall we think about to use RXC ( IPS ) motor which in EDF can run at 3 li-poymers but less current?

In the GWS EDF-50 motor table, it clearly shows that when you run the 7.2V motor on 50% more voltage than the 4.8V motor, the 7.2V motor produces about the same thrust at 50% less current than the 4.8V motor. So if you have a 4.8V EDF-50 setup that runs on 2 lithium cells (7.4V), you should be able to run a 7.2V EDF-50 setup on 3 lithium cells (11.1V) of roughly half the size and capacity. Thus, you should get about the same thrust and flight duration while reducing the lithium pack weight by ~25%. With the new, high-performance LiPo cells on the way, it will be possible to run even smaller, lighter LiPo cells that will handle the same current as the previous larger cells.

Dave, you bet right!

Should not a problem for dealers to carry replacement motors, it's same as IPS used.

Now we should ask: "What is your favorite Jet models to be equipped with GWS EDF40 or EDF30?"

How about F15, F18, F22, X29, X35, Euro-fighter, Mirage, F4, Mig29, Me262,...? those twin military jets...

747, 757, 777, A340, A380, ....??

SR71, U2...??

Bommer: B52, B47, B58.....??

Hard to make choice?
