Woody-

elevator 7.5mm high rate
6mm low rate
Ailerons(at Flaps)25mm up, 11mm down (high rate)
22mm up, 9mm down low rate
Snapflap(at fuse)11mm down elevator high rate
8mm down elevator low rate
Landing Flaps- 70-75 degrees
Landing elevator- 6mm down at full flap.

I have a very small bit of rudder coupled to aileron on a switch...

I usually fly on low rates aileron and elevator. I have just added flaperon mixing to the ailerons, but have not flown the plane since, so will likely be turning down the aileron throw bit.

My CG is at 107mm.

what is the wingspan on your Ceres? My Ceres is a prototype bought at Viking Race 2006 and has a wingspan of about 286cm.

do you run ailerons down together with the snapflap?
how much settings do you use in launch, speed and thermal?

My F3F production CERES is 3050 mm in span.

I run the ailerons down with the flap on snapflap, but just a little less snapflap in the ailerons, maybe 2mm less where they are next to the flaps.

For launching camber (hand launching in F3F only) I use about 3mm of flaps down, and match that with the ailerons. Also there is just a tiny bit of down elevator at the same time.
On that same launch mode, I have maxed through on rudder, and aileron/rudder mixing on. I run more aileron differential in this launch mode, also.

I haven't tried to use any reflex on the wing yet; the plane feels very fast with the wing section neutral.

The ballast comes with the plane.


I have since re-built my first Ceres and purchased a second one to compete at the Viking Race in Slovakia later this month.

I'll post some pictures later, but I've changed the servo list to the following:

Ailerons: Airtronics 94761z's
Flaps: JR 3421's
Fuse: Airtronics 94761z's

With this setup, I have a 5-cell 1/2A pack configured like this:

-IIII

And the receiver right behind the battery, then the very short servo tray.

This leaves me space available behing the servo tray for a home-built ballast tube, which can hold 9 of the stock rectangular slugs.

I got mine yesterday and it`s allready finished, just bipping in the radio left:-)
But there was no ballast with mine, so I have to give Annette a mail about it.
Awsome quick build, thanks to a very complete "kit".
5-6 hours, and ready.
Everything was like a hand in the glove, and the quality is really amazing...

Snapflap is programed into the up elevator, whichever stick normally actuates it.
You might want to get some help from a seasoned F3F or F3B pilot in your area before you fly the Ceres. Ceres is a great plane, but it's a bit of a thoroughbred, and won't take kindly to set up mistakes. It is great to fly and land when the radio setup is good, like many of the other top planes in the class.
Don't start with the CG aft of 107mm for instance.

Did you get the "B" or the "F" version, and where abouts are you located?

Ah-ha!

I see now you are referring to landing flaps??

If so, yes, my landing setup is on the left stick proportionally. I have the flap servos setup on a "Curve", so that the flpas come in slower at first, and that way, the down elevator is relatively more at half flap than at full flap. This eliminated "Ballooning" at half flap.

No.. Not snap, but kickflaps.
I guess this a setup with a opton to give more flaps in the turns when needed? It`s cinda new to me, so widen my horizon here ..

I have flown the Aris and Race M F3F for two years now, so the Ceres is in the same line, but I have never used the kickflaps before.
Two weeks, a Acot in heading in my direction too.
So I don`t think i need help for setting them up, there are none issues...
Closing to the sub 38, hopefully right on track..

The Ceres served me well at the Viking Race in Slovakia.

I believe that the planes' strength lies in it's incredible straight line speed. Because of this, I think that it's best to set the plane up with minimal snapflap (about 4mm max) and make carving F3B style turns rather than harder tighter turns.
Even though the plane will happily make the tighter turns, some of the speed will be lost, and you'll effectively loose the planes' advantage. It's a very fast beast, that loves to be flown heavy in medium and strong conditions.

I REALLY like this plane.

An F3B version is a great weapon in very light, 3M/second slope conditions, and I have to assume it's really good for the f3B duration and distance tasks, but have no F3B experience.

Hi all,
would like to grab this threat out again, 'cause i did not find a complete Setup for the ceres. I will use today the setup above, but would like to know if someone tested a different setup. For example, what about thermik condition ?? Full Flaps to aileron ? aileron up by butterfly ??
