T-Craft Motor

Have 33 flights @ 10 minutes/ea using a Turnigy 35-30c with 2200ma 3s1p LiPo and Turnigy Plush 40A ESC. I can get 2 flights/pack with a 10x6 wooden prop before recharge of about 1600ma depending on the flight envelopes.

Thanks, Aeronca and planekiller!

I just love the way the Taylorcraft looks. As my second plane, I'm still learning to land, and I've cracked the wheel pants repeatedly in hard landings. But I keep 'em on because they look so good, and I fly off of pavement at the local park, so they don't interfere...

moogly,

Is that the Turnigy 35-36C (1,100kv)?

If so, it does look somewhat comparable (spec-wise) to the BP 2217-9, with maybe a little more "oomph". Do you find it overpowered in any way with the Turnigy? What % throttle do you normally run?

I don't get unlimited vertical, but that's not what I'm looking for, and I feel like I have all the power I want for the kind of flying I do. With a Zippy 2200mAh 3S1P 20C I get 18-minute flights. So I'm all smiles.

rallison,

That 2217/16 Turnigy looks very comparable to the BP 2217-9 and would probably give close to the same level of performance as the E-Flite 450, where moogly's 35-36(C?) might be between the 450 & 480.

How well do you like the Turnigy 25A "Plush" ESC you're using? Is the throttle smooth and linear to the stick movement? In normal flight, what % throttle are you using?

well you answered the question yes the 35-36C is closer to a 480 and I run a Turnigy 40A "Plush" my throttle is usualy at 1/2/ 3/4 depending on if I fly a 4sp or a 3sp. with a 3sp its very scale if you want it to be and with a 4sp its unreal I seem to always run a 11X6 prop that seems just right for it

I damaged my landing gear in an landing on our grass field which is very rough this season for some reason. Made me glad Horizon has spare parts and I restored my T-Craft to its former self.

Yeah, I figure they're in the same range. Mine fit right in, no adjustments other than the cowl depth, per the instructions. It came with a rear-drive prop adapter, .197" (5mm).

The Plush 25A seems pretty smooth to me, though I have limited experience; if there's a limit to how smooth, it's a result of the detents on my DX6 throttle stick. I cruise in level flight at a hair over 50% throttle. I can loop from level at about 80-85%...

I received a call from Horizon today. They said if I wanted the Taylorcraft which I back ordered for $124.99 in June, I'd now have to pay $139.99. What's up with that?
