This event just gets bigger every year. We will have photo and video of coverage. Below is information on this event:

(As you may know, the purpose of the "Fly-for-Tots" event has always been to have fun enjoying our hobby with like-minded individuals while raising money for a great cause involving less-fortunate children. And this year we have chosen a very great cause. I have been doing some NASCAR consulting work with Petty Enterprises and have come to really respect the Petty family for their integrity and what they give back to others.

After the tragic loss of Kyle Petty's son Adam in a 1999 racing accident, they honored his memory by biuilding what is now known as the "Victory Junction Gang Camp" to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment.


The camp operates solely on the donations of wonderful corporations, organizations and individuals. So RDRC has decided to step up and work extra hard to help make a difference for some precious children again this year. When I asked Kyle if a certain dollar amount that RDRC feels it might be able to raise would be significant, he replied "that would be huge, since it will send 6-10 kids to the camp for a week!". That is insprirational!


100% of the proceeds from the "RDRC Fly-for-Tots" event will go to this cause!

Those who attended last years event will know that this is one event to mark on the calendar! It was THE largest R/C event in the state with 134 registered pilots, hundreds of aircraft and lots of fun! Don't believe the hype? Go have a look at http://www.RD-RC.org and check it out! Not only is this event going to be bigger and better than last years, but ALL of the proceeds (as with previous years) will be going to a local Charity and this years recipient is the "Victory Junction Gang Camp".

Well,

It is looking like we will be getting some much needed rain today, but the storms will be out of the way by tomorrow morning. Motor Homes and campers started rolling in Wednesday evening and continued through last night. Some of the RD-RC guys were out yesterday, workin' hard to get things in order. Here are a few photos from yesterday afternoon. These photos were taken by Jay Benson from the RD-RC "Traveling Circus".

The rains are here.....and there is lots of bad weather all around us right now, but the forecast says it will be out of here before the early A.M. and we will have a sunny day in the low 80's. That's a welcomed change in temperature and we really need the water. The following is a report from Robert Vess around 4 P.M. today:

"Guys. I just left the field where everything is now in order for tomorrow. Larry and the rest of the RDRC guys have things totally ready and looking great!

And folks have been rolling in all day, setting up tents on the flightline, doing some flying, and getting excited about the weekend. Jerry and Jeremy Holt (The Worm) are here and have been wringing out the Ultimate all day. Also, Mike Saleeby and some of the Greenvile contingent have been tuning up his new Ultimate with several flights, too! I also saw a few guys from Lumberton and Charlotte.

The rain was coming for the evening but let me assure you all that the weather man is calling for it to get out of here by the morning and we will have BEAUTIFUL 70-80 degree sunshine both days!

By the way, Larry has arranged a surprise for before lunch tomorrow...get those batteries charged in your cameras!

I'm off to the airport in a little while to pick up Quique....let the festivities begin!"

Well guys,

My internet access at the field is not working properly, so I have come to one of the local guys' homes to borrow his. So far we have had a great day of flying with perfect weather. Justin Smith from Hobby Lobby, Quique Somenzini (JR), Jeff Holsinger (JR) and many more put on great shows for everyone. We had a P-51, RV-8 and Stearman do low fly-by's for the crowd. Radio-Active Airshows had hundreds of people in their Sim Trailer, great flying and great food! I have many great photos and video and will upload all of that Data from my home this evening.

It was a great first day. Good weather, good food, and good flying. I got a total of 7 flights in. I knocked the nose off of my Kadet LT-25 after the candy drop, but I've got it fixed and it'll be available again tomorrow. The P-51 fly-by was AWESOME. We, the Tarheel R/C Fliers, had 17 folks attending today. I'm looking forward to day 2.

Small correction in the photo captions. The "Yellow and Black" Yak that Chris Hinson flew was the 100cc prototype with DA100. The red/white is the 50cc version that is available now. His had a Brelleli 60cc engine, which he says he has been very happy with.

Chris just HAD to let Matt fly those planes. Matt really liked the 50cc, but LOVED the 100cc. Awesome flying plane. I can hear it now: "Dad, I already know what I want for Christmas".
