Great flying, i wish i had the experience to fly like that. I recently started flying aerobatic/3d type foamies and im having hard time performing all those neat little tricks that you show in the vid. I do realize that the only way to get better is keep flying and keep practice.

How long did it take you to reach that level of piloting skills?

Regards Tom

Unfortunately, I'm not the pilot. This was a video that John Carver put together for me. John is an experienced pilot that flies 40% gas planes. He just recently purchased one of our large YAKs and it is now his favorite foamie.

Your skills get better with flying, that said...simulators and flying everyday will get you there. The other important thing is a well setup plane. The BAF YAK's little brother would be a good start. Check out our website at www.DWFoamies.com. The YAK 54 has a 39" wing span, it will fly a pattern sequence better than any other foamie on the market.

Mike hit the nail on the head...A good plane set-up and lots and lots of practice will get you there fast. Simulators have there place and will save you lots of money in balled up planes. This has got to be the slowest foamie I have ever flown. If you are serious in foamies, this is a must have, even if you have to work up to it.

I really enjoy sub 8 oz foamies but the BAF YAK is even more graceful than these( only need a slightly larger flying area). I have been flying it at a local ball field with limited space and find it to be very controllable. I will get Mike a video of me flying it in our local indoor sports dome in November.

Thanks again Mike for giving us a whole new angle on a great hobby, You have my business and I will be buying another soon!!!

A couple of guys in our club have this plane. They love it. I wish there had been a little more thought given with regards to the name. While I'm sure it describes it well, I would be uncomfortable using that term on a regular basis. Hopefully they will come out with another large model with a little softer name.

Blessings, Terry

Has anyone tried a lighter setup for this bird? I am considering the Scorpion 3014-18. It is more than a full oz lighter than the 3020-12. Check the numbers below on the 3014-18:

APC 12x6E (v)10.5 (a)39.67 (w)416.54 (rpm)8325 (thrust,oz)70.79

Seems to me that if you could keep the auw at 35oz, it would be even more of a floater than I have seen.

What are the current setups you guys are running?
