If you don't mind 127 amps that is.

Chris
Do you have it in use? How long can you fly with that setup?

What is your Top Speed?

Also...where do you get such 5800mah batteries from?

Hyperion does only have 5400,5500 and highest is 6500mah.

Would be cool to know

I eliminated the front rx plate. My rx sits behind the battery bullkhead with the satelite on the side of the intake. the lion will most likely sit same general location but underneith.
Thanks Again Stoneforcer.
I will have a look when I get home.

Top speed, don't know really, guessing up around 300k's

I have used 5800mah and 6000mah. All from Hobby King, twin 5s packs. Had a Nano Tech die. One cell had a high resistance, so it was on the cards
These videos are of the first two flights. Not great but it may give you an idea. As i move the Cof G back it is landing nicer, ensuring i am not carrying any up trim. I normally get 5.30 min flights, that's enough. Plenty of throttle work

Comp ARF Spark Stumax SM110-45 first flights (3 min 42 sec)

Comp ARF Spark Stumax SM110-45 first flights (4 min 10 sec)

I've had many flights on it now. The more i fly it the more i like it. Hoping to go out this weekend again.

She seems to track down very nicely. Sound is amazing for a 4 Bladed Rotor Blade.

The speed seems allright.

If you get 5:30 Flights..that sounds about ok for me. Flying with over 300km/h for 6-8 Minutes will need to give me a new heart to replace through the adrenaline rushing through my body.

I guess you do a bit more then 300km/h, hard to tell but.

My goal is 300km/h or more. I would be very happy with a 320km/h level flight.

Regards

First Video:

Pass 1 up wind 128mph
Pass 2 down wind 182mph
pass 3 up wind 152mph (unclear difficult to read big error possible)

Second Video:

Pass 1 down wind 198mph
Pass 2 down wind 183mph
Pass 3 up wind 157mph (not well defined unclear)
Pass 4 up wind 170mph
Pass 5 down wind 163mph (not well defined unclear)
Pass 6 up wind (not readable)

Hard to tell for sure as the audio is not real clear on the graph. I'd say the setup does around 175-180 in no wind.

We predicted about 180 on the math for 4500 watts so it seems to line up just fine.

Cool, thanks muchly.

I have measured 4600 watts so right in the ballpark

Hmm...so the 1521-1.5y does around 300km/h or like 310km/h, uses 120amps and flight time with a 5000mah battery may be relatively short.

Not sure if that is worth the try.

Why no Thunderpower? Aren't they any good?

They have those new G6 Line with a 6600mah on top of the line, they look to be very powerful!

I am thinking of the Hyperion 6500mah 35c 5S to buy.

The dimensions are:

160.0 Long
47.0 Wide
58.0 Height
867 Weight

Do you reckon it would cause an issue with the cg with 2 of such packs?

There would be also the Hyperion 5500mah ones which are a bit lighter.

If I get 4 Minutes with these 5500mah packs, I would be very happy.

6500mah Packs will give us a good 6 minutes or 7 minutes for sure.

LOL i can't remember. Sorry. I think it is low from memory. I'll check when i get the chance

I find 5 1/2 minutes long enough. I even think the turbine boys keep their flights short too. I find things happen pretty quick.

I couldn't be happier.

How come no one uses the Stu 100? I really like the sound of that one. Not that the 110 doesn't sound cool too, but I like that turbine sound of the 100. I hate to give up a ton of performance just for sound though, so wondering why no one is using it. Something at least 180mph+ around 100 amps is ideal for me. I don't need 200mph at the cost of 130-140 amps.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Stephan,

The Titanium struts from central are(were?) prone to snapping at the point where they are gripped for bending if your landing is not great. The grip point caused a weakness. The posts reporting this were from 2009 so perhaps they no longer have this weak point?

Please check the struts when you recieve them.

Will do so. Can only be better the than the original Springair.

In the meantime I completed a few further flights with my newly arrived 11s 25C 4000 packs. Attached is a GPS and a Unilog chart of one flight.

I could reach about 300km/h / 186 mph (GPS speed) on level acceleration (no dive) along with the TJ100 and the Neu 1515 3D motor at approx 4,2 KW.

This is not the limit I guess. Since the batteries were new, unformatted, and not pre-heated I expect a better voltage level and up to 4,4 KW after a few more flights.

The second chart includes the Power and rpm over the course of the flight. The TJ 100 reaches up to 46000 rpm - a bit scary but an amazing sound.
