Hey Ming

We had some fun doing bungee and aerotows the other day. I went one level too far on the bungee with the Fox. We didn't get it on video but the wings actually touched tip to tip above the fuselage. One of the other guys had a Fox and it went up really well. But as you'll see in the video the landing was a bit woody. On the other hand the Bee worked really well. Here's a vid and some pics.

Thanks for posting that! Was great to see a bunch of guys out just having plain old fashioned fun! That's what it's all about!

(I have to live a bit vicariously through this kind of thing, as I live in a remote, rural area, so fly alone mostly!)

Nice! Have planned trying towing from the first moment I saw the opening in the nose cone of the Fox. Could you share some details regarding the release mechanism used?

We simply taped metal hooks to the undersides of the planes that were being towed. Keep them a fair bit in front of the cg and it was fine. The main thing was that the tow plane had a release mechanism as well in case of emergency, it was used about 4 times that day. If you want details on that I can PM the guy that had the towplane, I'm sure he'd post details here for you. The Fox is the perfect plane for this small electric aerotowing and looks very scale going up. Great way to get into some flatland thermals.

Here is a magazine article on some ideas. We tried the velcro idea but not much luck. Also as you can see from our vid we rog'd rather than hand launched. Looked heaps better doing that anyway.

Carnage!!

I was on an overnight sloping trip with friends this weekend. Had a BLAST!!! And I guess my Fox also had a BLAST!!!! so much so that she literally blew up in mid air. I guess EPP and composite dont mix. Pretty fascinating mid air with a hot composite sloper. Your looking at what I was able to recover. Thank god all radio gear, including my brand new Sanwa(Airtronics) 2.4 Ghz Rx was there. But the stab flew away.
