Hi Andy, sorry to here about your Catalina ! If its the electric version they are stunning !
I used uhu-por to secure the nose cone and elevator servo, the rest I used tape. The main frame is taped together, rudder and aileron servos are taped into place as was the elevator and the wings have tape on the part that slots into the air frame, which leaves the wings secure yet when I do crash they simply move and absorb the impact.
On my next one I will remove the injection mould nipples to help with the tape to bond better.

Hi Andy,

Mines still coming across on the plane, but on the BD which uses the same foam I used UHU - Por like Richard. The only other glue was Formula 560 to secure the clear canopy to the frame.

I was wondering about the moulding pips. They are virtually invisible on the BD, I wonder if its been moulded on a different tool ?

Tough break with the Catalina dude..what happened ?(ouch...just seen the thread, commiserations bud)

I used medium viscosity Cyano (NOT foam safe) throughout.

The only bad point about my FOX was the canopy magnets were missing ! I checked the other kits and they too have no magnets.
I think I have started a Fox craze in Ireland as alot of my friends are now building the Windrider Fox.

Thanks, Ben, Richard and MrFlash.

My Catalina is the Guan Li electric one, bought as a bare but complete airframe by a friend and converted to brushless by a joint effort. He ran out of space so he gave it to me, but it crashed on my first flight with it.

It had a broken horizontal stab when I got it (hangar rash incident) which I mended almost invisibly with Foam2Foam but I suspect it may have been the cause of the crash. It landed nose first but the repair on the stab was broken cleanly at the join so it may have come apart in the air. It rolled onto its left side (which is the side that had broken off the stab) then nose dived.

I'm piecing it back together at the moment. It will fly again, but it'll never look as good.

I used one of these fitted with some graupner blades .
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._/_3.2mm_shaft they give a little extra cooling.

Thats the type and diameter that i used but i selected a 3mm shaft version.
The blades are ok but i prefer the graupners. on the spinner they use a hex key in the middle of the opening to tighten onto the motor shaft.
