Cool
Windrider Fox

Has anyone seen the news on the EPP Fox that Ming from Windrider has been developing? I came across this post while browsing the scale forum: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=34
There's a video of the prototype earlier in the same thread.

I have been eager to see the progess on this plane since Ming first mentioned that he was working on a prototype. His planes fly great and are affordable. I know I will buy a Fox once they come out. How long do you think it will take before we see a Predator Fox?

I did ask Ming about this a while ago, and he said the project had been shelved- projected sales didn't warrant the expense, or words to that effect.

Flight test on prototype is success.
Will start the tooling ASAP.

Very cool! Tons of wing flex in that vid, though. I'm sure Karl will find a way to fix that

I just want Ming to put a fast airfoil on it. We'll do the rest in terms
of making it super rigid.

How? I have 4 ribbon spars and 1/4" X 1/2" balsa drag spar in the RockSlide, (EPP Kulbutin/MadSlide), and I'm totaly dissapointed. I'm considering bagging 1/64th ply from the high point back to the drag spar and Goop/Kevlar from high point forward.

Dean, who needs help getting rigid.....

PS. I may need my vacubaging stuff back if you're finished with it......

Won't know until we get one in hand. Perhaps use a router bit and
straight edge, and route in the proper depth groove, top and bottom
and use thicker rectangular carbon stock instead of ribbons.
I also think the molded EPP Ming uses is probably more rigid than
the cut EPP you used for your plane.

But my point was, I don't care what else is in the kit, as long as Ming
puts a fast airfoil on it. We don't need a fox shaped Easy Pro,
which has a very floaty, slow airfoil. What we want are fast
molded EPP gliders. If they need to be made stiffer, we'll find
a way to make them stiffer.

I can get the bagging gear back to you if you need it. Unfortunately that
pump just doesn't pull enough vacuum to pull the skins down on any
of the wings that I set out to repair (XP3 wing with folded delam, XP4 wing
with folded delam, bagged 2M Extreme wing with folded delam etc..).
At full vacuum, there's still voids between skin and foam.
Andrew said he's got a more serious pump I can borrow, but I didn't hear
about it until the trip to Kansas weekend before last.

I've got a few ideas and should be getting a proto soon! I'll keep you all posted. I've been thinking ALOT about new spar systems, new types of spar matrial as presented by the Canuck and I THINK I have a VERY simple and elegante idea for this guy! Tough stiff and fairly easy to do! with minimal work but a dremal or router is KEY. As it is, a double ribbon spar should be good for front side acro but, I plan on taking it WAY farther then that!!!

I'll meet you guys on the hill to discuss this more now back to regular programing. Sorry for the hijack.

I want a new Fox as well.

PS. ...Ian, I may have a pump for you but it will need some modification. (Old refridgadator servicing device).

Hmmmm.... I'd like to see it in decent lift. Looks kinda like it's designed for light conditions to me with a relatively slow airfoil - not sure it'll be a viable candidate for turning into a speedster, even if extensively carbonised. I guess I just prefer the 4m glass variety - not really a fair comparison though!
