I went to my local Bunnings today but they said they didn't stock it? I got ply there pretty cheap but couldn't find any balsa. I might try another store to see if its just the staff at my local don't know SH&* Thanks MW, I thought someone had mentioned Bunnings before. Cheers

All the Bunnings in Melbourne I have been in have a Balsa rack. You will find it in the Arts and Crafts aisle next to the paint. I think Bunnings layouts are universal?

That makes sense Fluffy, when I picked up the ply I got it from the wood aisle..the guy there said no balsa (but thats par for the course with B's). I'll go and have another look today at the local as its closer than my local hobby shop and has MW said, its probably half the price and its always open. Thanks Guys

Well I tried. I went back into my local Bunnings and had a look in the craft section and it had lots of MDF cut out shapes to paint but definately no balsa. I think it might be just this particular branch as they didn't seem to have much iat all in that section. I'll check out the other stores in my area, I know of at least 4 more big shops all within 20Km. Anyway, this time I saved my petrol and went into the LHS and picked up the sheets I need for this job. Thanks for the help anyway, I'll know next time. Glyn

Yep Bunnings up here at Belmont have balsa too so it must be your one Gluggy.
Price was good, esp with my discount card Belmont didn't have a huge selection the other day, but they normally do I have found. downside I have never seen RC specific shapes, only sheets, squares and dowels. Upside for me is it's only around the corner as opposed to a 50 minute round trip to the LHS.

Craft shops have it too. Dunno what the craft weirdos use it for, but they usually have the RC related sections.

What's the brand of that balsa that Bunnings carry? I might look at getting them to send me a full box of it.

Paul.

I was in a "Mr Toys" up here in Brisbane (Springwood) looking for something RC to corrupt my nephew with for his Birthday. I noticed they had quite a large variety of balsa in different shapes and sizes. I don't know anything about balsa, so I don't know if it was cheap but worth a look.

Hi Sim, wonder if they go by another name here in Sydney, I had a look through the yellow pages and they don't register here. I'll check the name when I get to work next week to see if they go under a different registered name. Thanks for the suggestion though. Glyn

Found it, it goes under "Toyworld" and there's one not too far from here, I'll check it out.

Where's a good place to get a range of sizes of aileron stock? I got some from Hobbyrama, eg when I was looking for Bat elevons they had 10mm thick x 32 or 38 or 43mm wide. But they haven't had any of those sizes in for months now.
