Different airfoil

the Kat is faster, and incredible at precision and very 3d capable.

The shp is a sick 3d powerhouse that is floaty like a foamy, yet flys like a much bigger plane.

Great review David!

I´m building my 3dhs katana and have some doubts...

I don´t like the linkage between the two elevators, it could flex under load (pulling/pushing the elevator at high speeds) making the plane to roll unintentionally. I was wondering if this would be a good excuse to test the "ailvator" mix of my t9cp It uses two servos for the elevator control to use it as ailerons too. This way I´d be sure the elevator halves will move exactly the same no matter what´s the wind load. It would give an awesome ailerons control even while hovering

What do you think, anyone tested this mix?

Another doubt is if my axi 2826/10 (180g) would be too much. I know it´s much heavier than the recommended but, would it be noticeable in flight? This motor is collecting dust for some time and I´d like to use it

The elevator linkage is not a problem on the Katana. There's no need to install two servos which will just add unnecessary weight to the bird.

If comparing two identical setups one with a Torque 2818-900 vs. one with a AXI 2826/10 the added weight is approximately 6% of the AUW. The Katana will carry the weight but lighter is better if you plan to 3d this bird. The extra weight would be fine for precision flying. I do agree with the idea of using the motor vs. allowing it to collect dust. You can always try it to see if you like it with the added weight.

I like precision flying, thanks I´m going to give it a try. I can buy a new motor later

Ok, I can go with one servo for the elevator... but I´m curious about the ailvator mix. With this plane I think I have no excuse to test it...

Thanks Steve!

One plane?

Finally everything goes the other way around, I´m going to use one servo for elevator, and the 2826/10 doesn´t fit without modifying the firewall, what I don´t have the intention to do

I´ve ordered a new motor
