Hi Guys,
I've flown both planes extensively. The planform of the Tempest effectively emulates a wing that is straight across the front, and sweeps forward along the trailing edge. This means that the C/G seems awfully far forward at the root. I put the C/G on my Typhoon at 27-30% chord at the root. This will vary a bit with airfoil, exact sweep planform, and washout. With the small tail on the Typhoon, you want to err a little on the front-heavy side. Start at about 25%, and work your way back. Typhoons are much more tolerant of being heavy than they are of being tail-heavy! Ron Daniels |

Thanks Ron, for the first flight it I was nose heavy, first thought it was tail heavy, but I think that was a thrust issue. I believe I've got the cg set at 2.25 inches. Right now I'm waiting on having my dad turn a solid aluminum spinner for me, that'll let me keep all the weight forward. I honestly don't think 50 ounces is too much for this size of bird, that's just over 3 pounds. Will make the dolly for ground launch within next couple of weeks, I hope. They sure seem to fly nice though!

Thank you very much. Little down on myself tonight. Went out for the SECOND flight on my Sig Rascal, and for some unknown reason she went into a spin at about 50 feet, spun down and whacked a power pole. Is repairable, after I build a whole new nose section and rejoin the wings and re-attack the tail feathers.

Is this kit still available? I'm thinking of putting together a wood kit for old time's sake. A bit of nostalgia.
