Hi Louis,

Some other users kindly directed me here with a few questions about Scorpion Calc. I've updated to 3.10.

First, for the line immediately below the propeller choice and above the "Diameter" window, is the x%/emax value the efficiency of the selected prop at full power, or its maximum efficiency at any point over the power curve? (I'd assume the former.) What is the significance of the various colors? And is the function of the "peak eff." button to select the most efficient prop in the library for that motor and the given parameters?

Second, it seems like every time I touch anything, sometimes just opening the Preferences menu, it resets to a default ESC. Is there any way to make the program stop doing that in keep the ESC values I enter until it's shut down or I change them? I saw how to keep my prop choice but I didn't see anything about the ESC in Preferences or Help.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi Bruce

About colored percentage
It is in fact Efficiency percentage relatively to Peakeff
So 100% means = Peakeff (could be 80%)
colors : green is good .... red is "caution"
Overloading warnings are very subjective as a lot of parameters are acting
1) Running time
2) Throttle management (is equivalent to reduce the voltage via PWM)
3) Venting/cooling of the motor
4) Voltage reducing as long as battery is going down (beginning .. end of flight)

Yes Peakeff button is to go rapidly to the prop around Peakeff
I think it could be convenient to start from this point and then go to the right
(higher load) .. a little ... if you are conservative

About ESC
ESC is suggested as function of Imax motor (but manually editable)
For now there is no option "to keep ESC parameters" if you change motor
For saving in Ini file I have to open the hood
Anyway, dynamic Rm of ESC are generally not very well known.

Louis,
Thanks for all your hard work, it's much appreciated! Would it be possible to include a range of XOAR electric Props in the database? These wood Props are becoming quite popular.

Thanks, Mike

Unfortunately I have no XOAR wood prop in my drawers.
(But I have a lot of motors and a good bench)

Un grand merci! A big Thank You!

Louis,
I just tried Scorpion_Calc v3.11 under Linux using Wine, a free Windows emulator. It worked!
Great program! If only it had data for all the motors available from all manufacturers...

Find it difficult to get to the prop I want, and lots aren't there?

Seems like the list scrolls by "load", not size or type?

Hi
The props library is certainly limited .. I do my best to try to complete
Yes the scrolling is by "load" and at a second degree by size because load and size are related
In preferences you have a filter per brand. You can select only APC as an example.
In the future I have the idea of filtering by number of blades or only folding ...
(in my todo list)
