Check in the "radio" forum for the Spektrum Dx7 thread. This subject has been addressed multiple times.

Out of sight, I've seen reports about here with AP ships getting 2-3 miles out.

If you believe the hype, I understand that in the new wave Chinese space program they will be using the DX7 to control remote mining machines on the moon.

I'd heard the o2 exploritory modules on mars were being controlled by them.

Since fitting my Ar6100 to my Tattler I can't stop crashing the bloody thing, but I will let you know how far I get when i manage to keep her airborne for more than 20 seconds.

Disclaimer: it is definately RFI Glitches causing the problems and not dumb thumbs!

Yeah, NASA better watch out. Whilst the the "men in black" focus on all the usual targets of technology ripoff & industrial espionage, the simple but effective tech, exemplified by 2.4G, will be used to devastating effect in the new space race - oh! you haven't heard about it, well watch out; the move by the Russians to claim minerals at the North Pole is nothing to what will happen on the moon & Mars.

I think the Spektrum AR6200 might be the way to go - effectively double Rx's & antenna.

The transmitter can transmit for an almost infinite distance (like most other transmitters ).....the only problem is getting a receiver that will pick the signal up correctly when more than about a mile away .
