Ohio Combat SRT-10 - - 13 feet of twin motored flying wing fury!!
First off, without the help from www.maxamps.com, www.castlecreations.com, www.hobby-lobby.com and www.OhioCombat.com, this plane would not be getting built. A HUGE "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" goes out to all the help I have been given for this HUGE project.
A new company has stepped up to help out with the SRT/10... www.ecubedrc.com Thanks Azarr! Action Hobby in Clarksville, Tennessee has been a huge help with this project too. Unfortunatly, they dont have a web site, but, if you're ever in the area, swing on in there and have a look around! I have now added a 2.4GHz Spektrum DX7 transmitter and AR7000 receiver from www.horizonhobby.com to the SRT/10! No more glitching due to the huge amount of RF in this thing! So, Jeremy from Ohio Combat drove down from Ohio to my house in Tennessee on Friday evening to deliver my new plane! Then, he, Dave from Birmingham, and I, spent Sat. morning through Monday evening in my garage building it. We had a blast, sweated a lot, worked long and hard, flew our other planes a little bit, then worked some more, but we didnt quite get the new SRT-10 done. Just for a little "teaser", how does a 10S powered, twin motored monster sound to you? This thing is going to be a beast and I am dying to get it done!!! Pictures and more will come soon... you WILL want to see this one! Laine. Last edited by lmopar69; Dec 20, 2007 at 12:15 PM. |

Jeremy will be posting a couple shots of it soon. This one is a little "different" in a couple ways. It is definetly not your average, every day flying wing. In fact, I dont think I have ever seen anything quite like it.
There is still a bunch of work to do to it, so it will be awhile before its time for video, but the pics will come soon. Laine. |

Well, here it is... so far anyway. Still a LOT left to do.
Power system consists of twin Hobby Lobby Atlas 5030/16 outrunners with APC 20x13 counter rotating, Max Amps 10S 2P 5000mah lipos (yeah, 10,000mah in there) and Castle Creations HV 85 controllers. With over 6000 watts of power on hand, it should fly nicely. Wing span is approximatly 156 inches, yes thats 13 feet !! This beast has roughly 46 FEET of total wing area. Ready to fly weight is estimated at 40lbs + or - 5lbs (acctual weight is 61lbs!!!) Laine UPDATE: FLIGHT VIDEO!!

We have the retracts covered-one off designed for the wing. It has enough wing area for maned flight but the 18in blenders may not be user friendly.
The wings do seperate (2- 3ft sections) except for the massive root. Got flat bed will travel. |

Gone too far? Me? NEVER! lol I only do that, well, daily I guess.
We thought about having it split apart in the center also, but since I have trailers and trucks, I can transport a BIG plane. Like Jeremy said, it will have retracts in it specifically built for this plane. Should work out great. The only other option would be to launch it from the sun roof of my buddies VW Bug... lol Anyway, we had a great time this past weekend building and doing some flying. We learned A LOT, well, at least I did. For example, I learned that a hot wire will not cut through foam thats been laminated with poly glue... at least not well anyway. We did our share of "head scratching" and "eye-balling" but, I think the final product will be awesome. If we ever do another one, it will be MUCH easier. Laine. |

You sure you won't need to file a flight plan with the FAA? lol! Also, being a VW addict, I'd not attach that to the bug unless you want a carplane. There'd probably be some kind of prize for slope soaring an old bug, though.
