Regarding the hacker, I really like hackers but the 8xl is rated under 500watts while the hp z3025 is more like 700 watts. I ordered one of these for mine.
Kenneth, I'm getting the 3025-08 at 985kv. What pinion do you think I should use so I can run about 2100 to 2800 RPM by adjusting the throttle curves? I have a ph-80 so I figure I'll be able to run a low throttle setting without overheating it. Make sense? |

G'Day Dave.
Bob - First I should say that I am working from theory since I don't have an HDX500 of my own. I have a spreadsheet that will let you explore various power systems, PM me with your email and I will send you a copy. Here are some headspeed estimates for your setup: Code:
Drive train parameters Battery Parameters (V/cell)
--------------------------- ----------------------------
Heli Model HDX500 LiPo LiFe
Main gear teeth 94 Max 4.2 3.6
Motor KV 985 Nominal 3.7 3.15
Efficiency 90% Loaded 3.5 2.75
Min 3.3 2.3
--------------------------- ----------------------------
----------- ----------- ----- ------- ------ ----
No of teeth No of cells Max Nominal Loaded Min
----------- ----------- ----- ------- ------ ----
21 3 2495 2198 2080 1961
22 3 2614 2303 2179 2054
23 3 2733 2408 2278 2147
24 3 2852 2512 2377 2241
----------- ----------- ----- ------- ------ ----

I'm going to run the 3025-08 on 4s. Have an 18t, 21t and 24t to try.
Kenneth, I know you don't have the hdx500 but you have a lot of good analysis...which is very good for making decisions. Thanks. Will PM you for that spreadsheet. BTW, NICE KIT!!! Just got the SA. It is impressive so far. |

Weights.
Frame - 233g Head Assy - 154g Flybar and Paddles - 43g (I can't wait to wrap this around!!! Sturdy flybar.) Gear/Clutch/Pulley Assy - 49g Tail Boom and Braces and linkage - 58g Fins and Mount - 20g Canopy mounts - 6g (steel for some reason? not that much weight but I'm gonna remake from alum just on princepal) Tail Assy w/belt - 52g Canopy - 92g Main Blades - 120g Landing skid - 38g Total - 865g Could easily shed 60g with lighter blades (CF or Wood), and another 40 with a lighter canopy (only part of the kit I'm not happy with). That would make it 765g!!! Last edited by BobOD; Aug 18, 2007 at 12:54 PM. |
