Heiney TDX/HDX500 SAH on deck !

Just got my new bird and I'm pretty impressed so far !! The head and tail quality is excellent and all the balls are silky smooth and are held in place with hex head bolts. I'm going through and locktite where metal 2 metal exists. The G-10 frame is also excellent quality ! I did have an issue with one bolt for mounting the skid set being semi stripped. For those who might not have a complete tool set, allen keys are included for all the bolts sizes. More comments to follow !

**UPDATED 12/2/2007**
**Summary of lessons learned !** Thought this would help those who do not have the time to read through all the posts

1. Scrap the 'spare' poker chip main gear (if there's a loose one in your box).

2. Scrap the vertical tail fin or..find a way to stiffen it. As is...it's not gonna protect the tail blades in the event of a hard landing !

3. Scrap the canopy and order a fiberglass as it's 10-12 grams lighter (and prettier !)

4. USE the lowest hole on the main shaft ! You'll get +10/-10 this way.

5. Get the lightest lipo you can find (my 4S 4000mah maxamps is 380G)...otherwise, you're going to have CG problems and will have to move the lipo tray back and up.

That's all I can think of now...will add more later

Hey, don't blame me for your weakness. With the sale of my T-Rex, and your borrowing of the FP "house bird", you officially have more helis than I do now.

Enjoying the show so far, please keep it going

Can you weigh the different assemblies please (frame, head, tail, canopy, blades) ?

What motor/esc/bec/battery are you planning to run (and their weights too if possible) ?

All this obsession with weight is just about trying to understand the differences between the SE and the SA.

Best I can do for weigh after I've got it all together (need scale !).

Here's Steves post : "total weight including the 4000mAh 15C 4s1p battery and fiberglass canopy is 1.79kg. "

Using
Hitec HS-85 x 3 HS-81 Tail
Align 75A ESC w/o bec
Park 5v bec

-Dave
3s1p TP 2100 x 2 parallel
Looking for the hdx500 850jv...no luck yet

Borrow mine. I won't need it for a day or two, then you can weigh the sub-assemblies and enlighten the world.

Should I take it back apart ?? Actually...hit my first snag New frame anti-rotation bracket is in front of the swash and yet, no way to use single servo for this linkage ? The swash has 4 balls (lower part). Guess I need to snap a picture There's no place for the bracket to the rear.

I think the pics in this post may help:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=66

Looks like the elevator servo mounts with the output shaft inside the frame, to the rear, and will connect with that linkage inside. Kinda like the Swift, but backwards.

One more thing, this frame is for hitec servos. If you have the kit for standard servos, the anti-rotation will be in the front.

Problem solved ! The bracket has the single pin (no ball)

THX Chris !! Another one of those 'Ahhhh Haaaaaaaa' moments Tail boom and main gear installed. Had some nigglely probs with the vertical tail fin fitting to the tail case. Was worried bout the belt being pinched under the 2 bolts that go through the tail case. Had to wiggle them in while holding the tail in the vertical and keeping tension on the belt to overcome the belt pinch worry. Make sense ??
Would've liked holes for cable ties in the RX shelf (lower..just aft of main gear) and will drill my own. No biggy
As for the standard servo frame and location of anti-rotation bracket. The HS-85's fit just fine ? That kinda worried me Steve !
