25 cents worth of corrosion X would have prevented this... very sad

don't give up yet Lancair..

at least it wasn't a big e-heli. Seaplanes take a little more planning. Some day come back to them with 2.4 ghz and some corrosionX

Ouch, sorry to hear that, wish i had a 401k, or savings account or money in a bank.

I got nothing, losing this plane a 2nd time is devastating

I'm done with water, and no ammount of corrosion x would have saved the submerged battery and esc.

Water+ electricity= poof, or maybe gurgle.

I love water flights - so my daughter is getting a Seawind for me as a Christmas present. Can't wait !! I have done lots of float flying with Cubs and Seniors so this should be the ticket. I live on a farm (no water here) but work around many lakes here in South East Michigan on cottages so having a little plane like the Seawind sounds like just what I need to carry in my work truck for a little fun time on breaks. You can actually run an ESC underwater once it's doused with corrosion X... Lanceair; I hope you have a rich uncle somewhere or something...

Jim,

The Seawind takes off grass even better than it takes off water. You may want to reconsider flying it around your farm.

On the water, you're in for a real treat, the Seawind is a much more spirited performer than your Cubs and Seniors. There are limits, as TIC will agree, but it's a lot of fun finding those limits.

I have crossing grass runways 80'x600' here on the farm - I fly here lots, have something like 30 planes in the "hanger". I have been flying since 1956 so I'm no newbe.

Nice flying field Maineia63,
Where do you live? I will be right over.
You have been flying about two years longer than I have.

And only 4 years longer than me. I was flying my Dad's Single channel, rudder only, "Separator" with "A" and "B" batteries and a transmitter that was so large and heavy it sat on the ground and you had a cord running to your handheld push button.

Jim, that is one nice strip you have there, looks like you could land a full scale there.

Runways

I ordered the Seawind combo from Tower - they are temporary out of stock for the plane but they are shipping the "combo" part. I guess I'll wait for the plane whenever it arrives. As for full scale - YES - there has been a few times that a full scale has landed on my runways. This picture is of a Super Cub and my son-in-law has set down his Tripacer a couple of times here.

My girfriend bought me a Seawind for my birthday!!! I haven't flown off the water for waaaayyyy too long. One of my favorite planes of all time had very similar specs, with a 40in wing and came in at 20oz, my highly modified Herr Aquastar could fly in 20+ MPH winds with whitecapped waters, so it doesn't surprise me the seawind does well in the wind. I flew it on lake wenatchee in washington at my aunt and uncles cabin where the wind was coming across the lake at about 20, but it was totally smooth, I was having a blast submarining through waves and jumping off the next! you just can't do that with a gas plane cuz you would kill the engine
