Since the mCPx I am seeing guys you would never expect to fly inverted cruising larger helis around the field. When I ask them how they learned they all have an mCPx.. These little 3D helis that barely break are helping people with confidence.

So I spent almost a year learning them (upright) and then when I finally decided to learn inverted I got to do the same (fortunately at some point mCP-X appeared and it gave me a boost in learning).

And with just slow, kind of on a spot, pirouettes I learned backward, funnels, piro circuits, etc... All came out of ability to control helicopter in any orientation and not being worried where the nose is really pointing. And also it was fun and gave me a boost in confidence. Give them a go. Spend some time just doing them each session and you'll see what I am taking about.

Definitively! That's why I started getting at some thing only now - 6+ years on!
That MCPX helpd a lot with confidence for me. I did my first inverted circle yesterday. Funny how happy I was after that

Here's one from this past Saturday. I was asked to do a realistic landing approach in the parking lot of a church as part of a video presentation. Pretty close calls. I would not do it again.

Here's the same jet liner, some inverted flight a week ago.

Well guys, I did fly today and just have to tell someone what happened. The good old T-rex 450 SE did its thing, then I decided to try some cross-wind take-offs and landings with the Cessna Corvallis foamie on a seven foot wide park path. Taking off was a cinch, landing was not.

In the air I did some loops and rolls with the airplane, then did a loop while flying at myself as I do with helicopters. On the downward part of the loop (flying downwind) it lost altitude faster than I expected and looked like it was going to go splat. It actually contacted the ground and I thought it was a goner, but when I pulled back on the right stick it came up and continued flying—though the prop was making kind of a weird sound. When I landed it it tripped over the main gear and went nose-down in the grass. The photos below show what happened when it kissed the ground. There was no other damage and I was able to bend the gear back into serviceable shape and throw on one of the spare propellors. A very lucky day!

I flew 3 packs today with my little birds. A bit windy, but they managed well. I could feel crash time is about to happen very soon. May be it's time for new upgrades.

wow, uurl and Zen, you guys have some cool airplanes

I've managed to fly a pak every so often in my nCPx, very cool heli. Tomorrow is going to be in the 40 degF temps with light wind so I am charging paks tonight.

ewoodcox— have you tried your hand at flying a fixie? Heli skills do translate. The only thing is you can't 'park' it (hover) if things get weird. The other thing is the landings.

BTW: what kind of cutlery are you involved with? (feel free to PM me)

Yay I am flying again!

Had a small issue with a set of wooden blades not agreeing with a 4s pack. I could have worked that one out if I thought about it first. Anyway after a long wait the required parts arrived and I am back in the air.

Have about 17 flights on my hk450gt now, basic hovering and some very slow side to side forward flight only.

The solopro v2 micro heli has helped me heaps to get this far.

Did another 2 packs at the park just now. Wind has come up a bit, it waits until I step out the door to fly.

Flew (OK hovered ) my HK 450 with the ZYX for the 3rd time this morning, I love how smooth this setup is

I'll definitely be converting my B450 3D to FBL with the ZYX next .... as soon as I scrape some cash together for the gyro.
