You know, I'd really like to be able to flip it in place someday! I hope you make a video of your new Trex in its element.

Less spectacularly, yours truly practiced inverted hovering in mild winds. Wind towards me is scary; wind going away is manageable. If it gets under 12 or 15 feet I get nervous. It really is learning to fly all over again.

It will happen sooner than you think. I now hover near the grass without thinking about it. Learning is about controlling fear and letting sim experience kick in. Only frequent field flight does that. You've done very well.

You know, my copy of AlphaMac Sim quit working and the publishers won't answer my e-mails. I'm thinking that I'll have to get real good at nose-in inverted hovering, then gradually rotate yaw to nail all orientations.

Try Heli-X sim. A lot better. But a lot depends on your Mac's specs. I've run this on a low spec'd MacBook with 65mb graphics ram and 512mb memory.

I bought a late 2007 MacBook with an Intel X3100 128mb graphics card. Then I installed XP SP2 in a 15gb partition. I run Realflight G3.5 and Reflex XTR without problems. But it fails to run the G4 Demo. So looks like the G3.5 is the end of the road for this machine.

GinoŚ thanks! I am downloading the Mac version now. My machine at home is a Mac Pro tower w/quad core Nehalem processor at 2.8 ghz. Should be enough.

Oh oh. After the initial start-up shell I get a dark gray window with no content that a text string and numbers in the title bar, like so:

HELI-X 0.9.591 - - - FPS: 771 (the last number changes, displaying the same numbers over and over in sequence, such as 749, 760, 755, etc.).

Do you have any idea why the program is hanging?

P.S.: Okay, now I see; the program is running. I have configured the controller and selected an airport and model. Any times to get the program to start?

P.P.S.: two hours later it's almost midnight and I have to discipline myself and quit this thing...

I had my 1st encounter with flying with wind blowing towards about a month ago. My mate who flew his 450 1st warned us about it but he seemed ok so i went ahead. When i done a loop that's when i felt the wind as the heli shot towards me & i did not like it. Then i tried a backwards circle & as it was on the far side of the circle the wind blew it towards me king me turn harder & faster. I've since flown a few more times in a head wind & i'm getting more used to it now as i know what to expect & i'm ready to compensate.

Flying upright in wind coming towards me is relatively easy. Doing it upside down is what bothers me. Loops can actually be dangerous, as you noticed.

Yes it is hard with wind specially for new or unfamiliar moves. But really it is fear again. If you can hover upright fine then the heli can hover inverted. Easier said than done. To this day, I hate flying in strong wind. I pack up and go home instead

I fly my 450 in 24mph gusts both upright & inverted (inverted 8's etc) without worry now. It's just being prepared & being confident in flying in a wind & from any direction.
