With that equipment you're probably at around 14oz Al.

EDIT - Just went back through my original posts here. With a Scorpion 2215-32 motor and a 3S 1000mAh 25C lipo, I was at 13.4oz AUW.

Started last night and finished cutting this morning. Made out of foamboard from Michael's craft store (I had to do something while my wife was Christmas shopping yesterday) Since this is my first foam pusher, I will probably leave the paper on and get a bigger engine to make up for the weight. My flying skills are rusty anyway, so slower and heavier wont upset me. The next one will be lighter and fast. Feel free to offer suggestions and comments.

Very nice. But even with the added weight, the 2212-6 2200kv motor should work just fine. Bigger motor = bigger lipo = more weight anyway. With the 2212-6 you get about 24oz of thrust, and even if it weighs heavier at 18-19oz, you still have more than 1:1 thrust to weight ratio.

Thanks for the info Pat. Any recommendations I can get on electric setups, the better.

I flew nitro years ago, and I built (and crashed) a lot of SPADS. I got out of it because my local field closed down and it is a bit of a travel to the new field. Now my son is getting the fever, and we have a vacant subdivision next to our house, so I'm trying to get back into it with electrics. Thanks again!!

Really like the looks of this plane! And the U Tube videos are awesome!!

I'm thinking about building a somewhat smaller version of the model featured in Post #1. Would like to use a "Blue Wonder" type 1700 KV motor w/ an 8 x 6 prop and an 850 mah Lipo.

What scale factor would you suggest? (I.e. what actual LENGTH should I use; I can scale the rest proportionately...)

Thanks!

Dennis,

No, I've never actually orderd from them directly. I've either had it delivered in person at a show, or get it from my local distributor who buys from them in bulk.
