I just ordered the 7 cell AAA 720mah Ni-MH pack from www.aeromicro.com .

It's one cell less than my Zero's battery but I think it is plenty of voltage to power the plane with future mods (Floats, parachuting men).

1 cell less should keep it lighter to compensate for the added weight the mods will add.

Carlos,

When you fly the Beaver with the Zero's AAA 8 cell do you use full throttle alot? I find when I fly the Beaver with the GWS 6 cell Ni-Cd I rarely use full throttle.

It must fly so fast with the 8 cell. I'm afraid to try my 8 cell since the wings allready look like they are ready to tear off during high speed dives.

To Leslie:
1) Don't do high speed dives with the Beaver.
2) Have you done the taping modification to the bottom of the wings to help prevent the flutter experienced when you do high speed dives despite my advice in number 1? If not go to Horizon hobbies web site and do the modification described there. I find the six cell battery packs to be sufficent for the Beaver and see no need to use a larger battery pack.

2nd Day in a row during lunch break!

Beaver is getting daily flights during lunch time breaks at the Space Center Flyers Field! Flew the Beaver again with 8 MPH breeze off and on across the field and just penetrated the wind with authority. Easy inputs on the controls made the Beaver turn like it had ailerons. Flights came a little short due to the wind conditions and some loops I commanded it. Flight duration was close to 10 minutes instead of the record breaking 17 minutes in clam conditions from last Sunday.

Keep it in the Air!
Carlos

Leslie,

No, I don't use full throttle at all, take offs at 3/4 and that's a lot as well. I don't have any problems with my Beaver wings since I have reinforced them with a hollow ALU. 1/4" spar the lenght of the wing span. So, I do loops, snap rolls and even high speed dives along with spins!!!!

Carlos.

Yeah, I'll try to keep from doing crazy things with my Beaver and Tiger Moth. I guess that's why I bought the Zero anyways.

For now, I'll just keep flying the planes as they would in real scale life.

I like the way Ni-MH handle over Ni-Cds. So I bought the 7 Cell just for the Beav. I think it will be great with that batt pack.

Beaver taking off (Orlando, Florida)

Here's my Beaver taking off into the Blue Sky at a school yard in Orlando Florida. The Beaver has great climbing abilities but you need to be gentle on the controls.

Here's the pic....

Would you beleive 17 minute Flight!!!

Yes, 17 minutes of flight time on one battery pack charge! I used the 8Cell, (AAA), 9.6Volt, 720mAH, NiMH, Sanyo Flat Pack and it still had a little kick after landing!!

Beaver has a custom main landing gear!

My Beaver has a custom Main Landing Gear suited for grassy and sandy areas such as this one in a large open field (10 acres) and the landings are flawless! Notice that the only thing in this lot is the XMASS Tree sell tent!

Another record flight of 18 minutes for the Beaver!

Dear GWS Beaver Fans:

Another record flight for the my GWS Beaver which flew a total of four (4) flights and an average of 18 minutes each flight!!!

These 8 Cell (AAA), 9.6Volt, 720mAH, NiMH, Sanyo Flat Packs are getting better and better as I fly. Conditioning them at no more than 1C when I charge is the best and keeping the throttel at no more than 3/4 juice also helps!

One flight lasted me 20 minutes but, I shut off the motor for 2 minutes from 1000 feet and when it came down to 100 feet I applied juice to continue level flight from DEAD STICK. This GWS Beaver is fantastic while if floats down without power.

Well, I hope you all have a most excellent Thanksgiving day!

Regards,
Carlos.

Bought the GWS P-51D but, Beaver is the Best!

Okay, I broke down and purchased the last remaining "new" GWS P-51D Mustag from Bobs Hobby Center in Orlando, Florida.

However, I must say that the high wing Beaver and Piper GWS planes are a joy to fly. They look like a real plane during slow passes and can do acro when you modify them for such flights. Not to mention you can stay up in the air longer with these models!

I will go slow and easy during the build up process on the P-51D since I still have my GWS ZERO which keeps on flying and flying!

Keep it in the Air!
