pulsery2k1, I didn't need to add any nose weight on mine. I also had alot of extra screws and nuts and bolts??? I always wonder if that is a good thing...

As I read through tread it seemed like some were ending up tail
heavy and becouse I will be using a lighter power system , and
I don't like adding usless weight . I will see when it arrives if it
will balance , It looks like a great model , Even thought I owned
a piper Arrow these were great to give instruction in , and from
the pictures in this tread seems with a little work will be a great model.

No more CMP Cessna 182's

Hey Gang
I just looked at Nitroplanes web site and looks as if the whole Cessna line is gone.
However! I did a search on google and found them now hiding at http://www.raidentech.com they have them for $134.00 + $40.00 S&H

I own one of the .50 size Cessna's and I love mine. All the guys at the RC field are all drawn to it and all say what a nice plane it is.

Regards, Jim

Looks great Jim! Is that a Robart nose strut? I've already ordered one based on posts I've read about the stock nose gear. What scale is your pilot? And lastly, have you weighed yours?

Hey Joe
Thank! Yes, I Had to attach a couple of OZ. of lead to the engine mount, I'm running an O.S 50FX engine with Pitts muffler. Way to much power for this plane. I usally fly around at half throddle.

As for the Pilot, He's from Hobby lobby 1:6 figure, about $9.00, here is the link to hobby lobby pilots. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/pilots.htm

And yes! to the Robart Strutt. I believe the model # is 654, and it's a must for this airplane.

Be very carefull on landings. Make sure your runway is not soaking wet or the nose wheel will sink down in the ground and you'll have a flip over like I did, and damage your plane. Just make sure you touch down on the mains first.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get home tomorrow. The plane should be at the door. I have a feeling it's going to be a while before it flys though. I really need to work out a power package. It may end up A123 based. Glow would be easier and cheaper in this case but I'm electric only.

It looks like you have a full cockpit in your plane. Do you have any pictures with the wing off?

Joe:

I ordered some batts from them a few weeks ago. No response, nothing, so I put in a Paypal claim and got the funds reimbursed. Too bad, they had a good product. The batts were perfect for planes like the Cessnas that could carry heavier batteries.

cmpro Cessna

Hello,
I have been toying with the idea of putting the Cessna on floats,i have one on wheels and a spare un touched kit,any one had any success? by the way the idea of removing the wing does not appeal so i made a hatch in the underside of the fuzz with a lite ply batt box, power from a axi copy on approx 1000wattts using 6s auw 7.5lbs,
cheers Euan.

Al,

Yeah, it'd be nice to find some decent LOW price Li-Po's for this project but it's looking like A123's are going to be the most economical when all is said and done.

Euan,

How did you manage 7.5 pounds AUW? If I can do that I'll be elated!

My kit still isn't here though tracking shows it to be out for delivery. It'll probably get here on the 7:00 p.m. go 'round.

Well the plane just got here. UPS sucks too. The SOB UPS driver had the box turned away from me so I couldn't see the damage when he handed it to me. Then the little vermin scampered off to his truck and disappeared before I discovered the damage. If I'd have seen it I'd have decked him!

I was pulling parts out of the box and kept getting more and more excited. I've never had an R/C plane this close to my idea of scale before. I've already e-mailed NitroPlanes asking if they have another kit. If so I'll grab it and one of the two will end up as a non flying display model. It's THAT freaking nice looking! I just hope the rest of the build is this nice!

Hey Joe
I believe Nitroplanes is all out of the .50 Cessna 182. But raidentech has them now for $99.00 + S&H. Just yesterday they were $134.95

HMMM!! Wonder why these companies are getting rid of the CMP cessna's.

http://www.raidentech.com/cmpcesk18250.html

You better get it while you can.

Raidentech and Nitro might be the same company, as both are located in or near the same city in Southern California.

I am interested in the large size Cessna 182. You guys are a bad influence.

I do believe is because CMP has made a new version of the 50 size cessna so these planes they are selling might be last years model. But this is only a guess.
