Official HDX-450 Owner's Thread

I started one of these threads over at RC Universe and it has a following of a few guys, but I thought I'd make one here for those that frequent this site more than RCU. That, and cobracommand closed his HDX-450 build thread we had been using. Something about some bad buisiness with HeliDirect. Quite a shame he had problems, I've had good dealings with them so far. Ah well, nobody's perfect. Anyway...

So, this thread is dedicated to the awesome HeliDirect HDX-450 SE V3. Feel free to post questions, videos, and pictures. Lets keep this thread going! I also plan to keep a trex/hdx inter-compatible part list at the bottom of this post for conveneince.

HDX COMPATIBLE TREX PARTS:

Trex Main Shaft
200mm Flybar
347mm Carbon Fiber Tail boom for Trex XL
New V2 Dark Blue Main Gear Set (HS1218-84)
3K Carbon Fiber Flybar Paddles
62mm Carbon Fiber Tail Blades
Most Trex Canopies

*Items in red have been purchased, but not yet verified compatible

Here are some general pictures of the HDX-450. If you'd like yours featured here, PM me the link and I'll add it in.

Me too! I'm glad I picked it over the black carbon-fiber-esque model. Its to "it's been done" . Too bad yall sent a black battery tray when I ordered that second one . Oh well, my fault, forgot to specify, still looks cool anyway.

Yeah I'll try to keep that compatability list up to date as people mention stuff that worked, and as I get stuff that works.

Ok so I got my align one way bearing shafts in, and tried the install. Everything was going fine, then I put it in the HDX, and the shaft collar is too short. The gear rubs the frame. So, what I did was use the longer collar from the HDX main gear, which solves the problem. Hopefully the autorotation shaft not going all the way to the top of the collar won't cause a problem? (eh helidirect?)

I think my wobble wasn't so much the gear, as that collar and the mainshaft hole. The wobble was pretty much gone when I used the shorter collar, but now using the longer one it's back to a degree. It's still better than the old gear though. I may swap out collars or main shafts if it's still a problem.

Went flying in 15mph winds today, tough but fun, good practice that's for sure. I think I will keep the CC35 in fixed end points mode for now. Here's a pic of my HDX450 in the wind today.

Does anyone take the temperature of the motor, esc and battery after a flight? My motor, esc and battery got hot after about 6 minutes of flying (no 3D), but this could be due to the bad Mega Power battery. (waiting for the replacement battery to come)

Nice pics nomad! Looking good.

Mine get pretty warm too, and hot depending on which motor i'm using. I'm holding out to buy an infrared temp gauge, so i'll let you know my temps when I do.

It is very rare that the 450 motor got hot. Please check your main gear mesh to see if there is any problem.

My heli main gear seems to be OK. Did not see any bidding when rotate it. I will do more test when I get my battery. By the way HeliDirect I am still waiting for you to ship my replacement battery (tracking ID: Q4NS3Q64JB)

My main gear mesh is fine; it run freely, no bind. For some reason the sonix motor gets very hot.

Yeah mine does the same thing, always has. I just try to ignore it lol. Probably not the best idea, but oh well. One of these days i'll have to disassemble it and at that point i'll search it out.
