NEW 3.7 Zenith

just got a couple of 3.7 Zenith's in from www.f3x.com

this is one sleek looking bird.
love these long slender lines to this plane. this is one of my favorite looking planes right now.
pics don't do any justice to this plane.

quality is REAL nice !
nice ballast system.
full carbon and light. this one weighed in at 58 oz. with no gear in it.

they added trilerons to these beautiful tips.

one is a customers and the other one is mine.
my stuff is ALWAYS for sale.

Does the Trileron have a separate servo?
Or is the Trileron coupled mechanically to the aileron?

Thanks -John Elliott

it's coupled.
most are coupled with a thin metal blade, haven't looked close at this one.

i don't have the technical reason, but i see them where they want to run
the ailerons out to the tips, but the TE is curved, so they have to use this.

Trilerons

O.L.

There used to be a web site run/managed by Dave Wenzlick (sp?) that featured a how-to on making trilerons, but a quick search brought nothing but dead ends.

I think Jerry Robertson may have been one of the first to use them to any degree, and some of the older NE Sail unlimited ships even touted Robertson Trilerons in their descriptions.

I believe the theory has to do with eliminating the abrupt outboard end of the aileron, and the impact it has on the airflow spilling over it, resulting in nasy wingtip vortices... The trileron provides a "ramp" leading back down to the undeflected wingtip for smoother flow.

The Icon and the Supra go about it another way, extending the aileron all the way out to the end of the wing.

regards,
Dave Stack

you know, i could have swore the Supras go to the tips, but i just checked a couple i have here and the ailerons stop a few inches short of the tip.

Ive used trilerons ala the Wenzlick site. My flying/set up skills are probably not refined enough as I noticed no difference between stock and trileron mod. Even after long term use.
