I am gonna be using a DX6i set up for it with the AR6200, no 3D or any aggressive flying, just some hovering, do I still need the BEC? If so am I correct that the wiring shown is the correct way to wire it also? Thanks in advance.

LockMD - awesome heli and hover, can't wait to finish mine so I can try. Are you outside with it or standing inside?
nuttcaze, This is the ESC I got, Its 9 dollars cheaper, If I read the manual right, With the one I got, You don't need a Bec, It has a build in Switching Bec mode in it. If I'm wrong some one jump in!

Maybe you should have built them into a little sled....

Oh it was several months ago when I had my first and only E-Smart crash.

I had my data logger on and left the canopy off, got a little distracted, lost orientation and nosed it in. My Apache LiPo's went flying, luckily in the snow. Tore up the heatshrink a little, but not the actual cells. Still working well today.

Then they would have skidded down the hill next to my house and ended up in the next county!

Very foolish question, but how are you guys keeping the tail servo push rod guides in place? I looked at Finless Bob's video's and he used a tie rap in between the tail boom and the guide. These guides are loose and can slide on the boom but there isn't enough room between the guide and the boom to get a tie rap in between. Did you just put them where they needed to be on the boom and then glue them in place with a bit of epoxy or ca, or am I just missing something?
Thanks in advance.
George

I got this BEC instead. My LHS had it for $19.95. It is good for more amps(4) and higher voltage. Those big scanner servos pull some big power. It works great.

I used end pieces (cutoffs) of the smallest tie wraps I had. Then worked them under the guide, 180 degrees from the rod side. Get the smooth end worked through, then grap it with needle nose and pull it through to the grooved section. Snip off the excess. There is room, but it's tight and takes a little working.

I like this method because I can still fine tune the alignment, or replace the boom without breaking glue joints.

I know that as a tru-arc ring (spelling?) I did use tru-arc pliers but you should be able to push it on with a couple of screw drivers.
