Cycle paths - candid camera changing our lives

Saw this on Trevor McDonald's Newsknight yesterday evening and have some doubts about whether it is set up, but ot is funny nonetheless.

Question is, with so many official and unofficial cameras around the place and the rise of YouTube and other sites for online display are our lives going to be irrevocably changed? If anything that you do can be filmed and up on the net in minutes are we going to modify our behaviour? Youngsters are already indulging in the fad of Happy Slapping for fun, is it going to get worse?

Tricky one, personaly I ignore them, we've had them at work for years, in citys and villages, you expect them nowadays. A bigger problem is the setting up for a filmed beating up or humiliation that is happening. Teachers being filmed by pupils and posted on the net for example. The ease of posting on the net of humiliating video has led to problems for some people. But that is very similar to the radio programs were they deliberately set out to humiliate someone live on radio, who is usually just doing their job. Seeing the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen making people look foolish can make it seem acceptable to do that to teachers and fellow pupils.
The cyclist deserved to be ejected from the race for pushing the other rider off, but ejected over the bridge parapet was a bit extreme.

Well if we find out tomorrow that the water was only a foot or so deep, the cyclist is now a paraplegic and the big burly bloke was a muslim, wait for the headlines......

That wasn't a big burly bloke Chris - it was Kev from Corrie

Think the clip originates from Greece actually.

In the states we have a news network that works with local police to set up and videotape online sexual predators who have agreed to meet underage children for sex.

The shows have been running on national cable televison for over a year.

Yet, these jerks still go on line, set up dates, and eventually get arrested in the act of seeking a child for sex.

No, putting them on television hasn't modified thier behaiour.

That video was originally done about 15 years ago. Funny thing is, back in those days, during a mountain bike race it is perfectly legal to push another cyclist who is in your way. As for being thrown off the bridge, keep in mind that European cycling fans tend to be a bit rabid. If you mess with one of the local favorites, the fans are coming after you! Just ask Eddy Merckx (Belgian) what happens when you try to win too many TDF's in front of a local crowd (France).
